RICHARD CLARK, 59, of Ona, WV, went to be with the Lord Monday, October 1, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie McComas officiating. Burial followed in the Watson Cemetery, Branchland. He was born March 20, 1953 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late David H. and Lola Clay Clark. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lou Clark, and a brother, Ernest Clark. Richard was a painter for Isaacs Painting. Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Ella Mae Isaacs Clark; four daughters, Rhonda Holley and husband, Ronnie of Ona, WV, Regina Clark and husband, Dale of Branchland, WV, Renee Clark of Huntington, WV and Lola Arthur and husband, Nate of Nitro, WV; four sisters, Faye Watts and husband, Charlie of Huntington, WV, Mae Adkins of Barboursville, WV, Goldie Adkins and husband, Eugene of Barboursville, WV, Betty Simpkins and husband, Butch of Huntington, WV; four brothers, Raymond Clark and wife, Reba of Dayton, OH, James Clark of Indianapolis, IN, Jennings Clark and wife, Lois of Branchland, WV, Charlie Clark and wife, Barb of New Lebanon, OH.

IDA MARIE NAPIER, 56, of Barboursville, W.Va., passed away Oct. 2, 2012. She was born Sept. 12, 1956, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Wayne and Martha Goodman Napier. She was also preceded in death by the father of their children, Lonnie Dale Mays. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Marie Mays; one son and daughter-in-law, Waylon Dale and Natasha Mays; eight grandchildren, Dakota, Trenton, Jeremy, Lakin, Hannah, Haleigh, Dezray and Shealyn; two brothers, Floyd Napier and Wayne Napier Jr.; her companion, Rick Reynolds; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and a sister-at-heart, Gloria Ferguson. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Ernie Napier. Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery.

BOBBY L. WARD of Wayne County, West Virginia, died Oct. 3, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. John F. and Zula Perdue Ward; brothers, Jim and Charles Ward; and sister, Jean Chapman. Surviving are his wife, Nancy; sons, John and Bobby Ward; and brothers, Donald R. and David. There are no services scheduled.

CAPTAIN ROY E. ROMANS of Roy, Wash., formerly of West Virginia, retired son of the late Latt and Augusta Tomblin Romans, died Oct. 3 at home. Memorial service 6 p.m. Thursday at the Philadelphia United Baptist Church, Beech Fork Road, Lavalette.

FLORENCE MAURER DAVIDSON, "MAMOO," 98, of Ceredo, W.Va., died Thursday, October 4, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va., Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Huntington, W.Va., with Pastor Stephen Hensley and Pastor Ray Stephens officiating; interment will follow at Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova. Florence was born June 8, 1914, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ada Johnston Legleitner. She was a former hostess at the First United Methodist Church of Huntington, W.Va., where she was also a member. She was a 50 year member and past Worthy Matron of the O.E.S. Marcum Chapter #61 of Ceredo, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank C. Maurer and a son-in-law Jerry Allen Warren. She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Warren of Ceredo, W.Va., Frankie (Roy) McKinney of Kenova, W.Va., and Sharon Maurer of Boston, Mass.; grandchildren Carol (Billy) Taylor of Lancaster, Ky., Nancy (Ed) Jenkins of Hickory, N.C., Tommy (Tanya) Warren of Huntington, W.Va., Tammy (Ron) Salmons of Ceredo, W.Va., Ricky (Lynn) McKinney of Kenova, W.Va., Shawn (Sherry) McKinney of South Point, Ohio, Joshua Merlin and Lisa Merlin, both of Washington; seven great-grandchildren, Tiffany (Jay) Criswell, Traci (Ashley) Jackson, Tara (Jeremy) Whittington, Allison (Jason McFarland) Jenkins, Casey Wellman, Shannon McKinney and Shea McKinney and eight great- great-grandchildren. FREDDY LEE THORNSBURY, 89, of Fort Gay passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Three Rivers Medical Center of Louisa, Ky.. Survived by his wife: Ann Marie (Perry) Thornsbury, one daughter: Linda Gail Hurst of Louisville, Ky. and two sons: Freddy Lee Thornsbury of Louisville, Ky., Larry Gene Thornsbury of Louisville, Ky.; son-in-law, Doug Hurst of Louisville, Ky.; step daughter, Donita Webb of Fort Gay; son-in-law Randy Webb of Fort Gay; step daughter, Debbie Copley of Louisa, Ky.; son-in-law, Larry Copley of Louisa, Ky.; step son, Bryan Chaney of Louisa, Ky.; daughter-in-law, Sheena Chaney of Louisa, Ky.; Step Grandchildren, four Step Great Grandchildren, eight Step Great Grandchildren; three grandchildren. GLEN ELLIS OSBURN, 90, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at the Huntington Veterans Affairs Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., by Minister Wyn Baker and Pastor Roger Perry. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at Wayne. He was born Sept. 19, 1922, at East Lynn, W.Va., a son of the late Wayne and Eula Tabor Osburn. Glen was a retired salesman for Interstate Bakeries and a member of Chauffeurs, Teamsters and Helpers Local 175. He was a member of the Garrett's Creek Church of Christ. He also was a combat engineer with the U. S. Army during World War II. His brothers, Earl, Jack and Kenneth Osburn also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean Moore Osburn; two sons, Jay Glen (Karen) Osburn of Wayne and Ronnie (Debbie) Osburn of Winter Haven, Fla.; a brother, Don (Ethel) Osburn of Proctorville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Scott of Charlotte, N.C., Parker Osburn of Pompano Beach, Fla., Briana (T.J.) ROY ALLEN MARSHALL, 54, of Bidwell, OH, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 at his sister’s residence. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Brother Luther Dingess. Burial will follow at Christian Cemetery, Fort Gay, WV. He was born October 29, 1957 in Columbus, OH, a son of the late Millroy and Elva Hale Marshall. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Wanda Smith and Nona Bocook; and a niece, Stephanie Bocook. Survivors include his wife, Kelly Jean Oxyer Marshall; a step-daughter, Cassie Peck; two step-sons, Cody Hockman and Casey Oxyer; two sisters, Janet Thomasson (Brian), Rita Marshall; two brothers, Scott Marshall (Loretta)and Gary Marshall (Hazel);a brother-in-law, Ray Bocook; two grandchildren, Garrett and Rylan Peck. REV. DEAN ALLEN RUNYON, 90, of Chesapeake, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, in Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Rev. Janet Mounts officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Kenova, W.Va. Dean was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Ceredo, W.Va., a son of the late Harvey and Nancy Belle Crockett Runyon. He ministered at various churches for 41 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Louise Virginia "Lula" Dudley Runyon; five sisters, Louise Stanley, Maxine Williams, Doris Nichols, Edna Workman and Evelyn Sark; and one brother, Otis Runyon. Dean is survived by four children and their spouses, Allen (Gladys) Runyon, Sharon (Eddie) Lusher, David (Kathy) Runyon, and Nancy (Ben) Coleman with whom he made his home; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harvey Runyon Jr., James Runyon and Ray Workman; and his constant companion, Winston Coleman. JERRY BOSHELL, 85, of Belleview, FL, formerly of Kopperston, WV died Saturday, October 6, 2012. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on October 21, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Beckley, WV by Pastor Jim Richards. Jerry was the daughter of the late Montgomery and Minnie Manning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Bill Boshell and four brothers, Keith, Buddy, Dolin and Bill. Jerry is survived by one brother, Dallas (Juanita) of Ozark, MO; three sons, Michael (Linda) of Kenova, WV, Mark of Orlando, FL and Jay of Belleview, FL; two grandsons, Mic (Kristi) of Kenova, WV and Hunter of Huntington, WV and two great grandchildren, Gavin and Mikayla of Kenova. HELEN WILSON SEAGER, 98, widow of Carl A. Seager, and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of many, died peacefully Oct. 7, 2012, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Daughter of the late H.V. and Bessie Raines Wilson, Helen was born in Wayne County, W.Va., on Feb. 28, 1914. Carl and Helen married before her graduation from Huntington High School in 1932. They moved to Milton in 1940, when Carl was employed as a butcher at Roberts' Store. They later co-owned Milton Food Center, the main market for the growing town. Helen devoted her life to the selfless service of her large family and many friends. During her 72 years in Milton, she was a president of the Milton Central School PTA, a member of the Milton High School Band Boosters, and a member and president of the Milton Garden Club. For many years, Helen led the kitchen ladies at the Garden Club's annual Arts and Crafts Fair. She was the oldest member of Milton Baptist Church. Among her many talents were cooking, sewing and gardening. All her friends and neighbors in Milton came to appreciate the hot loaves of homemade bread which she frequently carried to their doorsteps in times of celebration, illness or grief. She is survived by one son and two daughters, Carl D. Seager of Milton, Mary F. Seager Taylor and her husband George A. Taylor of Salem, S.C., and Janet Seager St. John and her husband George R. St. John of Esmont, Va. She was predeceased by two adult sons, Lt. (j.g.) Charles E. Seager USN of Virginia Beach, Va., and Hugh A. Seager of Fraziers Bottom; as well as three grandsons, Gregory A. Taylor, Chet A. Seager and Michael H. Seager. Helen is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. The grandchildren are Jeff G. Seager of South Charleston, W.Va., C. Rodney Taylor of Punta Gorda, Fla., John S. Taylor of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Catherine St. J. Robb of Afton, Va., Elizabeth St. J. Milligan of Manakin-Sabot, Va., Virginia W. St. John of Reston, Va., George B. St. John of Austin, Texas, Kristen A. Seager of Milton, Erin M. Seager of Barboursville, C. Eric Seager of Barbourville, and Carl D. Seager II of Milton. ELIZABETH MAE NAPIER, 81, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 7, 2012. She was born December 5, 1930 at Dunlow, W.Va., a daughter of the late Perlina and Boyd Napier. Two sons, Paul Napier and Edsel Napier also preceded her in death along with two grandsons, Nicholas Napier and Jefferson Thompson. She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, French James Napier; four sons, Geary F. (Lynne) Napier of Kalamazoo, Mich., Micheal (Zanna) Napier of Cleveland, Tenn., Eddie C. Napier of Pasadena, Md., and Gregory Allen (Tammy) Napier of Cleveland, Tenn.; four daughters, Debra A. (Terry) Wilson of Columbia, Md., Pamela Sue (Frank E.) Lercher of Louisville, Ky., Sandy Bobeldyke of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Terri Lee (Richard Rockwell) Thompson of Huntington, W.Va.; thirteen grandchildren, Shannon R. TAYLOR ROSS, 90, is now at peace with his loving wife of 62 years, having left his earthly home Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Rollins Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Summers officiating. Interment will follow in Dock's Creek Cemetery, Kenova, W.Va. Taylor was born April 19, 1922, in East Lynn, W.Va., son of the late W.J. "Bill" and Mary Elizabeth Frashure Ross. He was a member of the 20th Street Baptist Church of Kenova, and was a member of the Isaac Walton League and Woodmen of the World. He also served on the Virginia Point Park Board and was a former Kenova Police Officer. Taylor retired from Transfer Terminal in Kenova, where he was a coal barge loader. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Holland Ross; three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce (Walter) Ekers, Neacie (Harry) Marks, Debbie (Nelson) Roller and Connie (Tony) Poston; three grandsons, Christopher (Kaitlin) Poston, Brandon Poston and T.J. Roller; one granddaughter, Krystal (Jeremy) Barker; one great-granddaughter, Kyleah Poston; and a future great-grandson, Carson Lee Poston. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. IRIS JEAN REED, 84, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Ky. She was born February 2, 1928 in Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Irvin and Mary Slone Priddy. She was a housewife and a member of the Fort Gay Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Sherman Reed and one daughter, Lana Ann Reed. Survivors include one daughter, Priscilla Sue Barker of Sevierville, TN, one son, John S. Reed, Jr. of Paintsville, Ky. one brother, Jimmy Priddy of Finley, Ohio, two sisters; Goldie Harrold of Carrie, Ohio, and Dorothy Swinehart of Ohio, special friends, Sammy and Tammy Howell and Myrtle King, seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at Fort Gay Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Kimble Copley officiating. Burial will follow at the Howell-Reed Cemetery, Louisa, Ky. under the direction of Young Funeral Home, Louisa, Ky. Visitation will be 2 p.m. til 9 p.m. Wednesday.

MARY JUANITA THOMPSON, 73, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Wayne, wife of Lucian G. Thompson, died Oct. 7. She was a former employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Huntington. Cremation services are pending with Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas.

ROY LEE PINKERMAN, 79, of Barboursville, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Charlie Logan officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, with military graveside rites conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard Post 16, Huntington. He was born Oct. 29, 1932, in Ceredo, a son of the late Roy Edward and Virginia Farris Pinkerman. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a supervisor at the Mildred Mitchell Bateman Hospital, a member of the Mud River Baptist Church and a member of American Legion Post 177, Barboursville. Survivors include his wife, Julia Ann Cobb Pinkerman of Barboursville; one daughter, Rebecca Lusher, also of Barboursville; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Ellen Pinkerman of Las Vegas; three grandchildren, Steven Lusher, Joshua Pinkerman and Ashley and Jon Thomasson; and his loving church family. MARY MARGARET FLEMING, 83, of Wayne, WV, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Madison Park Assisted Living. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV with Rev. Greg Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at Wayne. She was born January 16, 1929 at Tulsa, OK, a daughter of the late Lewis F. and Emma Jane Oakes McCallister. She was a homemaker and member of the Garrett’s Creek Community Church. Her husband, Lester Walter Fleming, brothers Richard McCallister and Herman McCallister, and a daughter-in-law, Laura Fleming, also preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Wright (Jim) of West Field, IN; four sons, Walter Fleming (Dot), Stephen Fleming, and Merle Fleming ( Betty), all of Wayne, WV, and David Fleming (Connie) of Kenova, WV; a sister, Wanda Booth of Wayne, WV; ten grandchildren, Christy Queen (Jason), Stephen Thomas Fleming, Michael Wright, Luke Wright (Nikki), Jonathan Wright, Nathaniel Wright, Jason Fleming (Cindy), Joshua Fleming (Janet), Lourissa King (Glen), and Emily Fleming; eleven great-grandchildren, and a special brother-in-law, Robert Fleming (Pat) of Fort Gay.

MAZIE MARIE PLYBON, 74, of Prichard, joined her loving husband and Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012. Our very loving mother and grandmother will be greatly missed and leaves behind a host of friends and extended family members. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Brother Thomas Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at the Plybon Cemetery, Whites Creek. Mazie was born on Oct. 18, 1937, in Logan, W.Va., to the late Arnold Bias and Ocie Ann Adkins Bias. She formerly worked for Owens-Illinois Company. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Ray Plybon; an infant son, Bryan Shay; infant daughter, Donna Ann Plybon; sister, Della Mae Coldiron; and brother, Garfield Bias. Surviving are her two daughters, Denitta (Gary) Wroblewski of Prichard and Martha Jane (Ray) Bocook of Kenova; three sons, Danny Ray (Linda) Plybon, David Alan (Carolyn) Plybon and Donnie Scott (Jacquline) Plybon, all of Prichard; three sisters, Mary (Chuck) Pennington of Memphis, Tenn., Oma (Ernest) Smith of Lavalette and Joyce (Jack) Ellis of Huntington; and four brothers, Arnold (Sue) Bias Jr., Dorsey (Faye) Bias all of Lavalette, Dewey (Phyllis) Bias of Prichard and Lemick Buck (Betty) Bias of Huntington. CHARLES KENNETH SANSOM, 77, of Dallas, N.C., formerly of Wayne, W.Va., passed away at his daughter's home on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Brother Sam Preston officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at Wayne. He was born May 26, 1935, at Wayne, a son of the late Pearley Walker and Libby Faye Cyrus Sansom. Charles was a retired industrial mechanic for Inco Alloys after 32 years of service and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was also a Prophecy Preacher and Interpreter. Also preceding him in death were an infant daughter, Mary Beth Sansom; a sister, Lois Sansom Preston and husband Alwin; a brother, Millard Sansom and wife Kathleen. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Glenna June Racer Sansom; a daughter, Kimberly Artemyev and husband Maksym of Dallas, N.C.; three sons, Charles Eric Sansom of Huntington, W.Va., Mark Christopher Sansom and wife Terry of Fresno, Calif., and Glendon Patrick Sansom of Wayne, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Emily Christina Artemyev, Alexander Christopher Artemyev and Matthew Nicholas Sansom; a nephew, Samuel Taylor Preston of Wayne, W.Va.; and a special caregiver, Luisa Alvarez. VELMA NEWMAN McGHEE, 90, of Prichard, W.Va., passed into the home of her heavenly father on Oct. 11, 2012. She was born Oct. 11, 1922, a daughter of the late Clovis and Della Alley Newman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Dock McGhee; sons, Jimmy Claude McGhee and Thomas Hensley; brothers, Jack and Lowell Newman; and a brother-in-law, Claude McGhee. She is survived by children, George Hensley of Columbus, Ohio; and daughters, Eileen (Lowell) McComas and Trelma (Arthur) Fuller of Prichard. Velma had nine grandchildren, Greg Hensley, Allen Hensley, Barbie Hensley Scites, Thomas Hensley, Charlie Hensley, Trelma McComas Davis, Gala McComas Stacy, Jimmy Dock McGhee and Shannon McGhee. She is survived by six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Earl (Pauline) Newman and Bill (Jean) Newman. Velma was a member of the Upper Gragston Missionary Baptist Church of Prichard, W.Va. She often played the piano and had served in past years as church secretary. Velma retired from AEP barge lines as a cook. She worked the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers cooking for numerous AEP crews. No crew went hungry on Velma's shift. Her family was blessed by a loving mother, grandmother and friend who provided many Sunday meals, homemade quilts to warm our hearts in the winter and always an ear to listen and a heart to love us. The family wishes to thank caregivers who stayed the course and provided love and comfort to Velma. JOSEPH “JOE” ALLEN PIGG, 62, of Louisa, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his home following a short illness. He was born December 8, 1949 in Louisa, Ky., the son of the late Joseph W. and Josephine Jolliffe Pigg. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Wallace Pigg. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Rita McCloud Pigg; daughter, Kara (Chris) Prichard, of Centerville, Va.; son, Joseph Brandon (Dawn) Pigg, of Mansfield, Ohio; 4 Grandchildren, Logan and Chase Prichard and Jackson and Carson Pigg; one brother, Jim (Teresa) Pigg, of Louisa, Ky., and 2 nieces and 1 nephew. He retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad in 2010, after 35 years of faithful service. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Baisden officiating. DANNY LEE LEGRAND - Now at peace after a long illness, Danny Lee Legrand, SR., 54, of Huntington, W.Va. passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Born June 24, 1958, he was a member of Laborers Local 543 of Huntington. His father William LeGrand preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 21 years, Lilly LeGrand; four wonderful children, Danny LeGrand Jr. and his companion Tabitha, Carrie LeGrand and her companion Woody, Chad LeGrand and his wife Brandi, and Anna LeGrand and her companion Trenton, all of Huntington; four grandchildren, Samantha LeGrand, Chris LeGrand, Haylee LeGrand, and Danie Grace LeGrand, and one grandchild on the way; special friends Julie and Matt Shelton of Wayne, W.Va., Sam and Joyce Belcher, also of Wayne; and a host of friends and family too numerous to mention. GREGORY ALAN BAISDEN, 46, our precious beloved son of Huntington, WV, passed away at home Tuesday, October 23, 2012. He was born February 26, 1966 in Huntington, WV, a son of Millard F. and Thelma Maynard Baisden. Greg graduated from Buffalo High School and worked as a coal miner for twenty-seven years. An infant sister, Dwanna Baisden preceded him in death, along with a sister-in-law, Linda Adkins Baisden; and his grandparents, Jarrett and Gracie Maynard, Reynold and Mossie Lee Baisden. Additional survivors include a son, Joshua Glen Baisden of Huntington; a brother, Scott Baisden; a niece, Rachel Ann Bailey, a nephew, Jarrett Scott Baisden; a great-niece, Madilynn Grace Baisden; three great nephews, Benjamin Jarrett Baisden, Elijah Scott Bailey, Jacob Shawn Bailey; and a host of aunts, uncles cousins and friends. PAUL H. SALMONS, 77 of Stepptown, West Virginia went home to be with the lord on Wednesday, October 24th, 2012 after fighting a long hard battle with cancer. Paul was a member of the Jewel lodge from 1961 to present. He was born on September 27th, 1935 to the late Alex and Mary Hensley Salmons. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Pat Salmons, one sister Ramaine Dillon, one son Robert Ward, and one granddaughter Courtney Salmons. He leaves behind in this world his wife of 23 years, Wanda Salyers Salmons, three sons; Paul D. Salmons of Oklahoma, Wendell Salmons and Kristopher Salmons both of Stepptown, West Virginia, six daughters; Kathy (Mike) Little of Oklahoma, Penny (Fred) Howard of Mudlick, Kentucky, Jenny (Denny) Carver of Al Kol, West Virginia, Tammie Neely, Clistie Trivett both of Stepptown, and Debbie (Jonathan) Jude of Lovely, Kentucky. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at the Funeral Home on Friday October 26th at 1 p.m. with Richard Fluty and Rayburn May officiating. STEVEN GERALD PHILLIPS, 64, of Huntington, WV. formerly of Kenova, passed away Friday, October 26, 2012 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Richards officiating. Interment followed in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Ceredo. Steve was born September 13, 1948 in Portsmouth, Ohio son of the late Gerald Phillips and the late Wanda and Charles Newsom. He was a retired Supervisor from the Norfolk and Southern Railroad Kenova Yard with 33 years of service. Steve was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam and he was a member of the American Legion Post #93 in Kenova. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Dustin “Duke” Phillips. Survivors include his beloved wife Frances Simon Phillips five children Josh Phillips (Traci), Bre Barrett (Scott), Maggan Gwinn, Tammy Dillow and family and Neal Phillips and family. RAMONA SIZEMORE KING, 80, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, died peacefully at Hospice House, joining our Lord on September 26, 2012. Mona, as her family and friends knew her, was the daughter of the late William Claude Sizemore and Pansy Perdue Sizemore of Ceredo. She graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School with the Class of 1949. She was an active student, having been a cheerleader, homecoming princess and participant in many clubs. Mona later completed two years of study at Marshall University, leaving to marry. An elegant and striking woman, Mona worked professionally as a photographic and runway model in Baltimore and New York City in the 1950's. She married George King of Huntington in 1955, but they later divorced. The couple had one daughter, Kellie King Gooding, M.D., who survives and resides in Stamford Park, Huntington. After 24 years in administrative support positions with the Army Corps of Engineers, Mona retired in 1995. She devoted the balance of her life to her family, charitable service and various hobbies. It can be said of Mona that she loved her family and dedicated her life to helping others. Mona greatly enjoyed athletics and felt exercise and fitness were of paramount importance. Accordingly, she continued to work with her personal trainer, Sky Fisher, until her advancing cancer no longer permitted strenuous physical activity. Her devotion to fitness inspired many who knew her to pursue a healthful lifestyle. Mona was a low handicap golfer, having landed two holes-in-one at local courses. She also loved swimming, bowling, gardening, writing, traveling and dancing; rarely missing a chance to enjoy the various bands performing at Dreamland Pavilion. At 77 she authored a well-received children's book, The Peppermint Candy Ball. In addition to her daughter, Mona is survived by her grandchildren, Daniel and Elise Gooding, and her son-in-law, Dan Gooding, all of Huntington. Surviving also are a niece, Jackie Brabon of Williamsburg, VA; great nieces, Lisa Woodward, Glen Allen, VA and Jamie Cohen, Williamsburg, VA; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Sizemore and niece Barbara Conner, both of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and two cousins, Bernice Powell of Ceredo, and Marty Waters of Oxford, OH. At her request, the family will have a private service next month. In her memory, she asked that donations be made to Autism Services Center, Keith-Albee Building, 929 Fourth Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701. The family greatly appreciated the wonderful support and care provided by Hospice of Huntington, her physicians and her friends and neighbors.

PAUL J. CHRISTIAN, 84, of Huntington passed away on October 27, 2012 at his home. He was born on January 11, 1928 in Sagle, WV to the late John & Margaret (Hysell) Christian. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Artrip and Joann Bell; a grandson Gary Lee Birchfield and a granddaughter Kelli Marie Gladeau; sisters Eloise Sansom and Lois Meade and a brother Bobby Clyde Christian. Mr. Christian proudly served his country in the Army during WW II. He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Hester (Watts) Christian. Laura was born March 26, 1939 in Bronx, New York a daughter of the late Abraham Fox and the late Sylvia Newman Fox Solomon. She was a retired bookkeeper from Wetherall Concrete. Laura was a member of the Women’s Auxillary of the American Legion Post #93 in Kenova. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie L. Sykes. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law James E. Sykes (Susan) of Seattle, Washington, Douglas L. Sykes (Cheryl) of New Syrmana Beach, FL., Michael A. Sykes (Elisha) of Barboursville, WV.; two daughters and one son-in-law Anne G. Conley (Darrell) of Ashland, Ky., Peggy Sue Lawson of Huntington, WV.; two brothers Robert Fox and Edward Solomon and one sister Anne Melissa Swartz all of New York; twelve grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. DORIS JEAN NAPIER DIAL, 82, of Lavalette passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at her residence. John is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anna Mae Huke. VIRGINIA MAY DILLON ROMANS, 86, of Huntington passed away Oct. 29, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House after a brief illness. She was a loving homemaker and caregiver to family and friends, as well as a devoted member of her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Ray Romans; and her daughter, Patricia Gale Fitzpatrick. She leaves behind a son, Richard Romans (Harriet); her brother, Elmer Dillon (Liz); and her sister, Athelene Plummer. Survivors also include her grandchildren, Paul Russell Fitzpatrick II, Warren Fitzpatrick (Kim), Heather Turci (Jason) and Christina Romans, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. RONALD E. (BUD) SCRAGGS passed from this earth October 29, 2012 after a long illness. He was born May 6, 1933 to Oder W. and Grace Blair Scraggs in Allen, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Jesse Scraggs and two brothers-in-law, Roy L. Stitner and Bo Stokes. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, D.J.; daughter, Kelly Scraggs of Ruidoso, NM; son Shawn Scraggs of Sacramento, NM; sisters, Carrie Stiltner of Wayne, WV and Wilma Stokes of Greenville, SC; brother, Clyde Scraggs and wife Kathy of Crawford, CO; granddaughter, Nicole Replogle and husband Mike of Mexico, MO; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bud joined the Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War. He then joined the Air Force and was placed in the newly formed missile squadron and became a missile systems guidance analyst. He retired in 1972 from Holloman A.F. Base having served 21 ½ years in the military. He then worked for civil engineering at Holloman and retired in 1993. In 1972 they bought the old Telles Homestead in Bent, NM. He spent the next 40 years restoring and building additions to the home which is a living memorial to his love of home and family. THURMAN JAY JOHNSON, 81, of Kenova, W.Va., loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. Jay was a son of the late James Jay Johnson and Lucy Pierce Johnson King. He was born in Charleston, W.Va., on March 10, 1931. He retired after 32 years of service from Piedmont Airlines. Jay was a veteran, having served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post #93 Kenova, whose Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-father Luke King and two brothers, Claude "Jack" Johnson and Carl Brooks Johnson. Jay is survived by his beloved wife, Minnie Carney Johnson; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven J. and Kathy Johnson of Kenova; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jayne and Doug Angles of Glen Allen, Va., and Bev Johnson of Kenova; three grandchildren, Kristin and Jeff Sanders, Ashlee and David Maynard all of Kenova and Jason Angles of Claremont, N.H.; three great-grandchildren, Christopher and Benjamin Sanders and Maezie Angles; a brother Richard Johnson; one sister Mary Jarrell and several nieces and nephews.
