VIVIAN OPAL CAUDILL, 89 of Louisa, Ky., passed on to her eternal resting home on Sunday, May 1, 2016. She was preceded in death in 2006 by her beloved husband of 60 years, Harold Caudill. Opal was a devoted mother and grandmother to her three daughters, Julia Caudill-Buchanon of Louisa, Deborah (Leslie) Peck of Louisa, and Sandra (Roger) Leedy of Fort Gay, W.Va., and her only son James (Cindy) of Fort Gay; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and nine great- great-grandchildren. Opal was born in Webbville, Ky., December 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Dewey and Lena Murphy Hensley. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Baptist Church. Additional survivors include four sisters, Martha Jane Moore of Louisa, Irene Mulkey, of Grayson, Ky., Patty Blevins, of Webbville, Ky., Geraldine Withers, of Martinez, Ga., and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Young Funeral Home, Louisa, Ky. from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4 at the Young Funeral Home Chapel.

LILLIAN MILLER HARGIS, 96 of Huntington, widow of John Hargis, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Brother Eddie Hay. Burial will follow in Saunders Cemetery, Wayne County, West Virginia. She was born November 24, 1919, in Wayne County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Henry and Mamie Tuley Miller. She was a homemaker. In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by a son Edward Hargis and a daughter Nina Hargis Sissler; her brothers Verlin, Virgle and Vernin Miller and sister Mae Baker. Survivors include sons Glenn Hargis and Michael Hargis; daughter Glenna (Muncy) McLain; sisters Verna Garringer, Polly Cross, Mabel Arthur, Dolly Miller and Joyce Niekamp. Lillian has 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 11 great- great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for all of their care and services provided for Lillian. JOHNNY HUGHES, 40 of fort Gay, WV passed away Sunday May 1, 2016 at his home. Johnny was born July 7, 1975 in Huntington, WV the son of Shirley Marcum Bradley and the late John W. Hughes. In addition to his father Johnny is preceded in death by a brother James Earsel Hughes. He was a disabled nurse aid. Survivors include a daughter Shelby Desiree Hughes of Louisa, his mother Shirley Marcum Bradley of fort Gay, WV, a sister Sonya Varney of Hurricane, WV, and his maternal grandfather Earsel Marcum also of Fort Gay. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday May 4th at Wilson Funeral Home with rev. Denny Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens. RONALD MOORE SR., 74, of Branchland, W.Va., passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at his residence. He was born April 8, 1942 at Harts, WV, a son of the late Guy and Ruby Tomblin Moore. He was a retired coal miner at Amherst # 8 Mine and was a member of the UMWA. Three sisters, Irene Kirk, Geraldine Workman and Mavis Adams, and two brothers, Gary Moore and Forest Moore also preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Adams Moore; two daughters, Maelene Napier (Danny) of Branchland, WV, and Misty Gibson (Nelson Lee, II) of Culloden, WV; three sons, Richard Moore (Melody) of Taylorsville, GA, Donald "Duck" Moore (Tracey) of Barboursville, WV, and Ronald Moore, Jr. of Branchland, WV; three sisters, Anna Jean Webb of Canton, GA, Wanda Kirk (Talmadge) of Harts, WV, and Linda Kay Dingess (Robert) of Michigan; two brothers, Dean Moore of Harts, WV and Larry Moore (Sandy) of Michigan; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted 2:00 pm Friday, May 6, 2016 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, with Pastors Jason Salmons and Kenny Kirk officiating. Burial followed at Community Memorial Gardens at Wayne.

JEWELL IRIS BROWNING, 93, of Midkiff, W.Va., died May 2, 2016. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, W.Va.; burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery, Ranger, W.Va. Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Friday. www.handleyfh.com.

J. B. JUDE, 55 of Dunlow, West Virginia passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. He was born on January 12, 1961 to the late Claude and Artie N. Johnson Jude in Cabell County, West Virginia. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by one sister, Fanny Brewer and two brothers, Daniel and L.D. Jude. JB is survived by his wife, Connie Jude of Dunlow, West Virginia, one son, Jay B. Jude of Fort Hood, Texas, three grandchildren; Hendrix Jude, Jacob Hunter Hinkle and Orian Jude, along with 3 step- hildren Shelby Sansom, Floyd Collins and Shaunna Brindley. He is also survived by four sisters; Virgie Perry, Betty Esque-Jude both of Huntington, West Virginia, Judy R. Spaulding of Wilsondale, West Virginia and Sue Phillips of Pennsylvania, as well as four brothers; Nathan Jude, Clarence Jude both of Dunlow, West Virginia, Jimmy Jude of Nelsonville, Ohio, and Frank Jude of Fort Gay,West Virginia along with a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Warfield Chapel of the Richmond- allaham Funeral Home on Friday May, 6 at 12:00pm with Joe Mullins officiating. Burial followed at the Saul Perry Cemetery in Dunlow, West Virginia. Friends called at the Warfield Chapel on Thursday May 5th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.

MARY JANE LEWIS, 88, (formerly of Huntington, WV), passed away May 3, 2016, at her home in Savannah, Texas. Her daughter, Shelly Lewis, was at her side when she left this earth and entered the open arms of Heaven. Mary Jane was born January 1, 1928, to Walker and Bertie Osborne, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Mike Lewis, as well as three brothers, George Osborne, Donald Osborne and Eddie Osborne. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Sharp. She is survived by one sister, Rose Caudill of Orlando, FL. Mary Jane is survived by her only daughter, Shelly Lewis (Savannah, TX), and three sons, Nick Lewis (Richmond, KY), Mark Lewis (Ironton, OH, and Ricky Lewis, (Columbia, SC). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She retired from the finance department of the City of Huntington, WV. Mary Jane was cremated per her wishes and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at Reger Funeral Home. Friends may call after 10 a.m. until service time. www.regerfh.com.

ALLEN JAY MARCUM, 86, of Lavalette, W.Va., formerly of Wayne, W.Va., died Thursday, May 05, 2016, at Lakeview Manor in Lavalette, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Marcum Cemetery, Dunlow, W.Va. He was born, January 27, 1930, in Dunlow, W.Va., a son of the late Charles Marcum and Goldie Picklesimer Marcum. Allen was retired from the Wayne County Board of Education and was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #18 AF&AM. He was an avid antique radio collector, loved old bicycles and loved sharing lifetime adventures with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Marcum Jr., Roy Lee Marcum and Ralph Marcum Sr., and two sisters Viola Belle and Freedis Frye. Survivors include a son Allen Jr. and daughter Hazel Lucille, two sisters, Lucille McCall and Hazel Everson (Edgar), all of Grayson, Ky.; sister-in-law Louise Marcum of Kenova, W.Va., and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special niece and nephew Kathy and Dave Cathers. The family would like to thank special friend and caregiver Peggy McCluskey for all the loving care given to him until the very end. Also a special thanks to friend and neighbor Eloise Crabtree. HAZEL McKINNEY FERGUSON FLYNN, 92, of Huntington, passed away Thursday May 5, 2016 at Woodlands Retirement Community, Huntington. She was the daughter of the late Col. And Mrs. (Hazel McKinney Ferguson) Lawrence J. Ferguson of Huntington. Her son Richard F. Flynn of Huntington survives as do grandsons, Richard F. Flynn of Kenova, WV and James F. Flynn of Cumberland, MD.; great grandchildren, Gavin and Reese; brother and sister in law Joseph A. and Ann Ferguson of Surprise, AZ. and many wonderful and caring nieces and nephews including nephew John (Monica) Porter who were very supportive to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Maurice Joseph Flynn; two sons Maurice Joseph Flynn, Jr. and James George Flynn; sister Jane Ferguson Porter and brother James C. Ferguson. Hazel was a member of a military family and lived in many places and attended many schools. It is interesting to note that she learned to walk and talk in the Philippines. Hazel graduated from high school in Clinton, SC and from Marshall University in 1944. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Education in 1945. She taught at Gallaher School in Cabell County an at Ruffner School in Lexington, VA. She and Maurice enjoyed traveling. Hazel also enjoyed her years as a docent at the HMA. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed playing bridge. A Funeral Liturgy will be conducted at 10 am Tuesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Dean Borgmeyer and Monsignor Lawrence Luciana as con-celebrants. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery, Huntington. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 pm Monday at the Reger Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time on Tuesday at the church. LOUISE WALLER-SALMONS, 89, of Fort Gay, passed from this earthly life on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Martin County Health Care Facility and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior. She was born in Webb, West Virginia on August 19, 1926 to the late Saul and Maudie Copley-Waller. Louise was a Homemaker and a member of the Glenn Hayes Freewill Baptist Church in Fort Gay. Besides her parents Mrs. Salmons was preceded in death by her husband Luther Salmons in 1981. She is survived by six loving children and their spouses Lawrence Salmons of Ceredo, West Virginia, Wilts and Linda Salmons, Ruby and Bruce Shannon, Ralph Salmons, Michael Salmons and Marcelle and David Meade all of Fort Gay, West Virginia; four siblings Elmer Waller of South Point, Ohio, Ruffus Waller of Prichard, West Virginia, Bonnie Long of Urbana, Ohio and Ray Waller of Bucyrus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren as well as many friends and extended family all of whom will miss her dearly. Funeral Service to honor the life of Louise will be held at the Young Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:00 am with Pastor Kyle Peake and Pastor Ronnie Maynard officiating, burial will follow at Webb Cemetery in Webb, West Virginia. Visitation for family and friends will be at the Young Funeral Home on Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 6-9 pm.

DONALD RAY WARD, 89, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 6, 2016, at his residence. He was born December 26, 1926, in Huntington, a son of the late Rev. John Floyd and Zula Mae Perdue Ward. He was a US Navy veteran, having served in WWII and the Korean War. He graduated from Buffalo High School class of 1944 and held degrees in Finance from Marshall College class of 1960, and Marshall University class of 2012 (honorary degree at age 85). He held many positions in the financial world including bank teller First Huntington National Bank, Huntington, W.Va.; vice president Cocoa National Bank, Cocoa, Fla.; comptroller First National Bank of Merritt Island, Merritt Island, Fla.; regional director of Economic Development Administration (Dept. of Commerce); he was also in the "Who's Who of Colorado" 1976 edition. Donald was a distributor of Kingsberry Homes. He resided in Colorado for 34 years and in Florida for 10 years and started many churches there. He had dual memberships in Huntington Christian Church, Huntington and Sharon Christian Church, West Palm Beach, Fla. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by five siblings, Charles C. Ward, Jean Ward Chapman, James D. Ward, David G. Ward and Bobby L. Ward. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Helen Dolores Fitzpatrick Ward; two daughters Cathy L. Ward Riggs of Huntington and Donna S. Ward-Panuco of Boynton Beach, Fla; three granddaughters, Dr. Jennifer Renae Riggs of Rio Rancho, N.M., Brooke Lynne Riggs-Moore and Whitney Riggs, both of Huntington and three great-grandchildren, Jasmine Aaryanna Moore, Gavin Ray Hensley and Liam Donald Sexton, all of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Huntington Christian Church byPastor Bob Huron and Pastor Randall Robertson. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova. ADDIE FAY DAVIS, 89, of Huntington, WV passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday May 10, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Hugh Summers. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Addie was born on May 10th 1926 in Branchland, WV, the daughter of the late Leslie T. and Daisy Pearl Plumbley Adkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Davis and four brothers and one sister Arlo, George, Lando and Eugene Adkins and Irene Adkins. Addie was a retired teacher for the Cabell County Schools having taught at Washington and Jefferson Elementry and she was a member of the 20th Street Baptist Church of Kenova, WV, the Alpha Delta Kappa and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law Charles and Deborah Davis and John and Kelly Davis; two grandsons John Tyler and Luke Conner Davis; one great granddaughter Lillian Mae Davis; four brothers and three sisters in law Lonnie and Margaret Adkins, Chelsie and Coralee Adkins, Ellis Ray Adkins and Jennings and Joyce Adkins; several nieces and nephews and special friends Debbie and Howard Early and Vicki Thompson. ARDEN "CHIGGER" McCOMAS, 79, of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 7, 2016. He was born July 31, 1936 in East Lynn, W.Va., a son of the late Golden and Wanda McComas. His wife Lucille McComas also preceded him in death along with three brothers, Argie, Arben, and Arzel McComas; one sister, Ardith Epling; and one grandson, Arden Lee McComas II. Chigger was a retired steelworker and a member and former minister of the Camp Creek Church of Christ. He leaves behind two daughters, Leatha (Gary) Hundley of Lavalette, W.Va., and Beverly Estep of Huntington; one son, Arden Lee (Tina) McComas of Centerville, Md.; six grandchildren, Jessica Hundley, Jackie Hundley, James Hundley, Christina VonBaltzer, Marie Pelfrey, and Clinton Smithers; and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving is three sisters, Linda McComas, Mary Ann McComas, and Sandra Sammons, all of East Lynn, W.Va.; one brother, Arnton (Wanda) McComas of Branchland; and a host of friends and family too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Camp Creek Church of Christ with Brothers Alex Spaulding and Jesse Williamson officiating. LESTER MARCUM, Jr., 39 of Kermit, West Virginia passed away at his home on Saturday, May 7, 2016. He was born in Wayne County, West Virginia to Aravella Spaulding and the late Lester Marcum. Lester is survived by special friends, Huff and Louise Williamson, Herby and Mary Ann Williamson, Luke Williamson, Richard Stacy, Sissy and the boys. He is also survived by two brothers; Eric Marcum of Charleston, West Virginia and Lonnie Marcum of Dunlow, West Virginia along with one sister. Funeral services will be held at the Silver Creek United Baptist Church in Crum, West Virginia on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 11:00am with Elias Maynard and Del Crum officiating. Burial will follow at the Williamson Cemetery on Jennies Creek, West Virginia. Friends called at the church on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 6:00-10:00pm. ROBERTA ELOISE MOORE, 86, of Genoa, WV went to be with the Lord on Saturday May 7, 2016. Mrs. Moore was born Aug. 10, 1929 at Borderland, WV the daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Ellen Thompson Snow. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Moore who died in 1978. She was a homemaker and a private caregiver. She was also a member of the Fort Gay Church of God. Survivors include a daughter Arzella Pratt and husband Bernard of Genoa, WV; two sons Murlin C. Moore and wife Laura of Shelby, OH and Kirby Moore and wife Margaret of Mansfield, OH; two sisters Peggy Curnutte and husband Charles and Maggie Vaughan all of Genoa, WV; three brothers Jay Willard Snow and wife Rosie, Franklin Snow and wife Dorseen, and Ralph Snow and wife Diane also of Genoa, WV; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren and expecting another; and several nieces and nephews who were like grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 11th at 11:00 am at the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Moore Cemetery at Genoa, WV. WILLIAM RONALD DAVIS, 73, of Huntington, WV passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at his residence. He was born February 24, 1943 in Huntington a son of the late Dorwin and Mable Canterbury Davis. Funeral service will be conducted at noon Friday May 13, 2016 at Cyrus Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Chapman officiating. He was a member and deacon of the Open Door Baptist Church. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by one son Gary Davis. Survivors include his beloved wife Louana Cox Davis one son Tommy Davis of Huntington; five grandchildren Charlie, Zach, Mat, Brittany and Michael and seven great-grandchildren Chase, Aiden, Kenleigh, Zander, Brayden, Harper and Maddox and a special young lady Jayme Hamner. He is also survived by numerous neighbor friends and church family. Visitation will be Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 5-7 P.M. at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. JAMES CLAIBORN JONES, 73, of South Point, Ohio, formerly of Wayne County, West Virginia, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., following an extended illness. He was born December 7, 1942, at Logan, W.Va., a son of the late Lucian and Farabelle Ramey Jones. He was a retired employee of American National Rubber and was a member of the Lavalette Baptist Church of Jesus Christ. James was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dora Alice Adkins and brothers Sammy and Roy Jones. Survivors include three sisters, Bessie Ellen Combs (Frank) of Wayne, W.Va., Marjorie Belle Scites of Huntington, W.Va., and Delcie Napier (Clayton) of Lavalette, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Emory Osburn, Frank Taylor Jr. and Charles O. Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Pres Friley Cemetery at Cove Gap, W.Va., with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 6878 of Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

BLANCHE MARIE VARNEY MARCUM, 100, of Louisa, Ky., formerly of Fort Gay, WV. laft her earthly life to begin a new life on May 8, 2016. She was born October 12, 1915 at Silver Creek, in Wayne County near Crum, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband Harmon Marcum, her parents William J. Varney, mother Florence (Brown) Varney and step mother Julina Varney; brothers, James, Morris Clayton, and David Varney; sisters, Josephine Jewell, Opal Leflar, Muriel Stuart and Daughter in law Elizabeth (Stroud) Marcum. She is survived by three sons, William Everett Marcum of London, Ohio; Thomas David Marcum and daughter in law Lotus (Bellomy) Marcum of Fort Gay, WV; Charles Franklin Marcum of Fort Gay, WV; and one sister, Gladys Anderson of Sun City, Arizona; nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She and two of her sisters, Josephine and Opal along with their father William sung old time gospel songs as a quartet from the time they were young children until they were grown. She had a passion for singing as well as quilting. While living in Florida she quilted more than 100 small quilts which were distributed to nursing homes as well as homes for orphan children. She was a member of the Pelican Peace Makers in Edgewater, Florida for several years and some of those quilts were sent as far away as Central America. She loved doing things that benefited others. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Graveside service will be held May 14th 2016 at McClellan Crum Cemetery near Dunlow, WV.

FRANK NAPIER, 88, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9, 2016. He was born July 21, 1927 at Kenova, W.Va., a son of the late Johnnie and Virgie Napier. His brothers, Johnnie Napier Jr., Callaway Napier and Golden Napier also preceded him in death along with sisters, Thena Adkins and Myrtle Soileau. Frank was a retired welder and a member of Lavalette Baptist Church. Frank was a kind, gentle and compassionate person who loved spending as much time as he could fishing and 4-wheeling. He was a bright light to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, and leaves behind many wonderful memories. Surviving is his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Doris Lee Morrison Napier; one daughter, Rita Kay (Charles) Pridemore of Ceredo, W.Va.; one son, Larry A. (Eileen) Napier of Lavalette, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Vickie Lynn Pack; and four great-grandchildren, Amanda Michelle Pack, Alexander Antonio "Alex", Sophia Grace and Olivia Rose Meza Lopez of Rush, Ky. Also surviving is one brother, John Harvey (Doris) Napier of Huntington; two sisters, Magdalene Fry of South Point, Oh., and Tempa (Linville) Farley of Huntington; his dear fishing buddies Bill Morrison, Frank Taylor, and many others; and a host of family and friends too numerous to mention. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2016 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastors Emory Osburn and Frank Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

STANLEY DAVIS LAMBERT, of Kenova, W.Va., peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on Monday May 9, 2016. Born on September 6, 1929, in Kenova, he was the son of the late Stanley and Elizabeth Lambert. He was a graduate of Kenova High School and Marshall University. Stanley proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After serving his country he returned home where he worked as an accountant at Armco Steel for 35 years. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 93, whose members will conduct military graveside rites; an avid Marshall fan, and a faithful member of the Big Green. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law Edith Wolfe. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sharon Lambert; stepsons and their wives Dwayne and Christy Jordan of Barboursville, W.Va., and Justin and Annette Jordan of Hedgesville, W.Va.; four grandsons, Garrett, Luke, Peyton and Austin who brought joy and laughter to their PaPa T; siblings Joyce Meyer of Albuquerque, N.M., Floella Frazier (Keith) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Yvonne Arrington (George) of Ashland, Ky., and Ronnie Lambert (Gail) of San Antonio, Texas; and several special nieces and nephews. MARY MAXINE LeMASTER GRIM, 78, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016. She was born July 15, 1937, in North Matewan, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Jacob and Christine Pack LeMaster. Maxine was devoted to her family and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Philadelphia United Baptist Church of Lavalette, W.Va. Maxine was also a 50-year member of Marcum Chapter #61 Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Harold Grim; one brother, Charles Melvin LeMaster; and one daughter-in-law, Linda G. Grim. Loving wife and mother, HELEN LORETTA McCANN, 79, of Lavalette, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. She was born July 15, 1936 in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Eugene H. and Nan Osburn Adkins. Her son, Mike McCann also preceded her in death along with one granddaughter, Stephanie McCann, and two great-granddaughters, Makayla Toppings and Haily Bender. Loretta was a homemaker and a talented pianist who played for numerous churches in our area. She was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Clifford and Henrietta Ferrell Lyons. She was a member of the Warner Robins High School Class of 1958 in Warner Robins, Georgia. Judy was the wife of the late Dana Duane Hodge of Barnabus, WV, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, cared for children, loved to read, study family history, and collect angels. Judy was a Christian and was baptized at Central Baptist Church in Warner Robins, Georgia. She loved animals of all kinds and took in many homeless strays over the years. She is deeply missed by all those who knew her for her sweet disposition and her love and compassion for others. DAVID MICHAEL NAPIER, 59, of Scott Depot, W.Va., passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, W.Va. JAMES R."JIM" MOSSER, 91, of Kenova, W.Va., was called home Wednesday, May 18, 2016. He was born June 12, 1924, in Wayne County, West Virginia, a son of the late Guy and Hazel Chadwick Mosser. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenova since 1937, where he sang in the Sanctuary Choir and the Saints Alive Choir. He held numerous positions and was active in many roles throughout his time in the church. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WW II. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #110 AF&AM and the Beni Kedem Shrine. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Lola Wilson Mosser and one brother, Earl Mosser. JUDITH A. MAYANRD, 71 of Brunswick, Ohio died Thursday, May 19, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 7, 1944 in Wayne County, West Virginia. FRANCES Betty MAYNARD, 86, of Kiahsville, W.Va., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 27, 2016. She was born April 20, 1930 in Logan County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Pete and Ada McCloud Adkins. Her husband, Jay Maynard, Jr., also preceded her in death along with one brother, Jackie Lee Adkins; and one son-in-law, Jack Cartwright. She leaves behind one daughter, Jeanne Cartwright of Huntington, W.Va.; five sons, Jimmy Maynard of Nampa, Id., Harvey (Ginger) Maynard of Louisville, Ky., Jesse (Beverly) Maynard of Kenova, W.Va., Peter (Lisa) Maynard of Huntington, David Maynard of Ranger, W.Va.; and a special niece, Millie Brooks of Kiahsville. Frances was a homemaker who devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver. A unique soul, Frances was very funny and never met a stranger. ROBERT LEE PRESTON, 81, of Kenova, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington. Robert was born July 28, 1934, in Ferguson, W.Va., a son of the late Millard Franklin and Ersie Runyons Preston. He was a 50-year member of Laborers Local 543 Huntington. Robert was a member of 5th Street Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Becky Ranee Preston at birth; one brother and two sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Aileta June Gilliam Preston; two daughters, Pandora Watts and Raymona Preston; four grandchildren, Tammy Watts, Jamie (Betty) Watts, Wendy (Dan) Tackett, Tiffany (Nicholas) McFann; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of family. Visitation will be conducted from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova. Funeral services will begin immediately following the visitation at noon with Minister David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens. EDGAR RAY PERRY, 67, of Dunlow, W.Va., died May 29, 2016 in Dunlow, WV. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Mac Ray Cyrus. Burial will follow at S.D. Copley Cemetery, Dunlow. He was born May 14, 1949 in Huntington, WV, a son of Edgar and Sena Jane Ferguson Perry of Dunlow, WV. Edgar was a retired electrician. A daughter, Michelle Dawn Daniels preceded him in death, along with a nephew, Wade E. Marcum. Additional survivors include his loving companion, Anna Susie Perry; three daughters, Venessa Thomas and Teressa Strickland of Georgetown, KY, Jennifer Newsome of Wilsondale, WV; a son Mark A. LUTHER S. FERGUSON, 84, of Breeden, W.Va., husband of Lenora Ferguson, died May 29, 2016 at his residence. He was a farmer and welder.
