HOWARD L. POWERS, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on June 1, 2016, after a lengthy illness. He was born on June 12, 1927, the son of Jonas and Catherine Powers. Graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington with Chaplin Jim Goebel officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph and Norman; a sister Helen Powers; and his first wife Doris Brown Powers. He is survived by his wife Ann Marie Powers; two daughters, Debra Gant and Susan McTheny (Mark); three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Howard served in the U.S. Navy in 1945-46; graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy in 1953, becoming a registered pharmacist and employed in West Virginia and Ohio for the next 43 years. He was a member of the Baptist Temple, the Guyandotte Chapter of the Masonic Lodge, the Knights Templar, the Beni Kedem Temple, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the National Rifle Association. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made tothe Alzheimers Association ot the American Canceer Society. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military graveside rites. FLORENCE LUCILLE WILSON HUTCHISON, formerly of Glenhayes and Columbus, Ohio, sister of John H. Wilson, died June 1, 2016 in the Laurels of Worthington, Ohio. She worked for the Kroger Bakery in Columbus. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at John H. Wilson Cemetery, Louisa, Ky. CHARLES EDWARD ADKINS JR., 50, of Wayne, son of Charles Adkins of Wayne, died June 2, 2016 at home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne; burial will follow at the Stephenson Cemetery, Wayne. Visitation will be one hour before Monday at the funeral home.

CHARLES EDWARD BOOTON, 89, of Lavalette, W.Va., died Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Elmwood Cemetery. He was born December 21, 1926, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Lonnie and Idella Morrison Booton. Charles was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was also a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #18 AF&AM as well as the VFW, DAV and American Legion. His wife, Helen Jackson Booton, also preceded him in death, along with a long-term companion, Tammy Perkins and step-son Randy Perkins. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Cremeans and husband Mike of Wayne, W.Va., Tammy Daniels and husband Fred of Boynton Beach, Fla.; a son Jimmy Perkins of Ona, W.Va.; a grandson Jon Cremeans and wife Reva of Huntington, W.Va.; great-granddaughter Makayla Cremeans. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, W.Va. A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:45 p.m.

ALMA EILENE BRANHAM, 63, of Prichard, companion of Ron "Butch" Viers of Prichard, died June 2, 2016 at home. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Sunday at Greenlawn Cemetery, Louisa, Ky. Young Funeral Home, Louisa, is in charge of arrangements.

BOBBY BRUNTY, 85, of Branchland, W.Va., widower of Madeline McCleese Brunty, died June 2, 2016 at home. He was a retired gas well driller for Jackson Gas Company. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, W.Va.; burial following in Franklin Cemetery, Branchland. Visitation will be one hour before service Sunday at the funeral home.

BUDDIE JOE MAYNARD, 82 of Lavalette, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., with Elder Sam Fry officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens at Wayne. He was born September 1, 1933, at Kiahsville, W.Va., a son of the late Ruben and Victoria Spence Maynard. He was a former laborer for an airplane manufacturer. He was also preceded in death by his ex-wife Betty Jo Maynard; six brothers, Paul, Doyle, Jenkins, Armo, Otis and Grant Maynard; two sisters, Virginia Haynes and Edna Hillyers; a grandson Darryl Joe Maynard II; and a sister-in-law, Judith "Judy" Maynard. Survivors include a son Darryl Joe Maynard (Wanda) of Wayne, W.Va.; three daughters, Edna Pauley of Wayne, W.Va., Vickie Vera and Rose Sutphin, both of Huntington, W.Va.; three sisters, Hazel Nease and Glenna Akers of Proctorville, Ohio and Dottie Hall of Lavalette, W.Va.; two brothers, Andy Maynard of Brunswick, Ohio and Heck Maynard of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Linda Blower (Eustace), Marcie Stroud, "his baby" (Darrell ), and Renee Pauley, all of Wayne, W.Va., Jessica Price (John), Leslie Shawn Vera, Justin Vera, and Tequilla Sutphin, all of Huntington, W.Va.; six great-grandchildren, Bryan Blower, Telissa Stroud, Kasey Blankenship, Brittany Pauley, Bailey Pauley and a special great-granddaughter, Maycie Jo Sutphin; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Morris Funeral Home. Leslie Shawn Vera, Justin Shane Vera, Eustace Blower, Bryan Blower, Darrell Stroud, John Price and Kasey Blankenship will serve as pallbearers.

CHARLES RAYMOND BLATT, 82 of Huntington passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Father Charles McGinnis. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Wayne County, West Virginia. He was born November 29, 1933, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Raymond Casper and Edith Arthur Blatt. Charles was a veteran of the US Army and was a retired machinist with Nulls Machine Shop and he also helped his son in his business, R & R Products. Charles was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Maxine Midkiff Blatt and two sisters, Lucille Easthon and Katherine Bocook. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Randall and Rhonda Blatt and Scott and Brooke Blatt, all of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law Mindy and Greg Turner of Huntington; grandchildren Jeremy and Mallory Watts, Sarah and Kevin Day, Brittany and Tyler Jones, Alex Blatt and his fiancé Kearston Evans, Kaitlin Blatt and Josh Blatt; great-grandchildren Dexter, Noah and Everly Jones, Fiona and Emmy Kate Watts, Konor Day and Kingston Blatt. ERNEST LEE ROTENBERRY, 80, of Fort Gay, WV., passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at his home. Ernie was born January 1, 1936 in Vienna, Virginia a son of the late Hugh and Callie Sheets Rotenberry. He was a United States Army Veteran and was of Presbyterian Faith. Ernie had retired from running Ernie’s Produce in Louisa, Kentucky. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Scott Rotenberry of Fort Gay, WV.; one son, Ernest Lee (Neva) Rotenberry Jr. of King, VA.; grandchildren, Ernest Lee Rotenberry II, Michelle Yvonne Rotenberry, and Gerald "Jerry" Rotenberry all of King, VA.; sibling, Roy, Paul, George and Lenora. Funeral services were conducted 11:00 AM Friday, June 10, 2016 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Cox officiating. Burial followed at the Scott Cemetery, Fort Gay, WV.. MAE ADKINS, 66, of Huntington, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016. She was born August 7, 1949, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late David Henry and Lola Clay Clark. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Willis Adkins; one daughter, Patricia Gayle Adkins; three brothers, Raymond, Ernest and Richard Clark; and one sister, Louise Clark. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Adkins and Charlotte Adkins; three sisters, Betty Simpkins, Goldie Adkins and Faye Watts; three brothers, Jennings Clark, Charlie Clark and James Clark; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will follow in Bowen Cemetery. ELMER MILLS, 94, of Proctorville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Monday June 6, 2016. He was born May 19, 1922, in East Lynn, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 65 years, Effie Merritt Mills; his parents George Washington Mills and Dora Bell Ross Mills; four brothers, Walter, Glen, Bernard and Clarence Mills; and four sisters, Dorothy Adkins, Delphia Perry, Bessie Beliek and Maxine Mills. He is also survived by in-laws, and a host of nieces and nephews. Elmer was a member of First Baptist Church of Proctorville, Ohio. Elmer retired from the Huntington Park Board after working in the CCC Camps and the timber yard at the coal tipple earlier in his life. He was a true lover of the outdoors where he spent his time hunting, fishing, digging roots and riding the four wheeler. His gardens were famous for tomatoes and white logan giant and cornfield green beans, which he shared with friends and family. The family would like to thank Elmer's many friends, who prayed and visited him throughout his battle with lung cancer. We would also like to thank the people at Hospice of Huntington and at Wyngate in Proctorville, Ohio, for all their loving care of Elmer. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Proctorville, Ohio, or Hospice of Huntington. GARY THOMAS CONLEY, 69, of Ashland, passed away on Wednesday June 8, 2016 at UK Medical Center in Lexington. Mr. Conley was born September 3, 1946 in Kenova, WV, son of the late Rolley and Anna Ruth Presley Conley. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Linda Marie Smith Conley, his parents, a son Aaron Thomas Conley and a brother Robert Conley. Gary served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Marksman; he later retired from truck driving . He was a Hillsboro Honor Guard, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of VFW Post 9094, a member of Ashland FOP, and Laurel Gap Freewill Baptist Church. His interests included his Church, family, cars, and Harley Davidson. Survivors include daughters Kim Pavey, husband Jeremy, of Leesburg, OH, Ann Smithson, husband Randy, of Leesville, OH, and Amanda Plagge, husband James, of Maineville, OH, brother Woody Conley (Judy) of Ashland, and sister-in-law Betty Conley of Catlettsburg; seven granddaughters, many special friends along with several close nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless brothers and sisters in Christ. A Funeral Service to honor Mr. Conley will be at 7:00pm Tuesday June 14, 2016 at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home. Panola Street, Catlettsburg. Pastor J.C. Caudill will officiate. DENNIS LEE KREGER SR., 66, of Wayne, W.Va., died Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Genesis Sistersville Center, Sistersville, W.Va., following an extended illness. He was born April 11, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio, a son of the late Elmer and Frances Kreger. Dennis was a retired police officer with the City of Ashland, Kentucky. He leaves behind his son, Dennis Lee Kreger Jr., of Wayne; one brother Danny Ray Kreger of Prichard, W.Va.; and two nephews, Billy (Melissa) Kreger of Ashland, Ky., and Danny Ray Kreger Jr. of Kentucky. CHARLES RAYMOND ADKINS, 69, of Waterloo, Ohio, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Community Hospice in Ashland, KY. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne. Burial will follow at the Skeens Cemetery, East Lynn, WV. He was born September 25, 1946 at Wayne, WV, a son of the late Cat and Eliza Adkins. He was a former employee of General Motors Corp. A sister, Peggy Adkins, a brother, Johnnie Adkins, and an uncle, Ivan Wallace, alsopreceded him in death. Survivors include his companion of 16 years, Wanda Miller; step-daughters, Debbie Cartwright, Pam Cartwright, Tonya Sue Reed, and Tiana Lucas; step-sons, Ricky Cartwright (Sandy), Who Cartwright, and Tony Miller; grandchildren, Brycie Jackson Miller and Zoey Marie Miller; a half-sister, Audrey; three half-brothers, Bruce Adkins, Jerry Adkins, and Richard Adkins; cousins Ken Wallace and Mike Wallace; and several nieces, nephews and friends. YVETTE RAE ENDICOTT, 51, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born March 18, 1965, in Wilmington, Ohio a daughter of Richard Endicott and Myrtle Faye Davis Watts (Jesse). Besides her parents she is also survived by her life partner Kim Cumm; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard Anthony Endicott (Pamela); two sisters, Angela Dawn Endicott and Myra Robare, and numerous other friends throughout the world. KAY ELLEN HAPTONSTALL JOY, 71, of Huntington, W.Va., was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 11, 2016. She was born on November 29, 1944, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Harry David Haptonstall and Katherine Elizabeth Jeffers Haptonstall. Kay was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Dewey and Margaret A. Joy. She is survived by her husband of 54-years and 11-months, Robert D. "Bob" Joy; her children Becky Meade (Rick), Richard Joy and Sue Joy Ramsey; her grandchildren Rob Bryant, Kat Bryant (Justin Toney), Becky White (Carl Eugene White), Ricky Meade (LauraBeth Marie Meade) and her only great-granddaughter, Aryazzelia Meade. Also surviving are her brothers David Haptonstall (Carmel) and Tom Haptonstall (Erma) and her dear friend Sandy Koslow Thomas. Kay spent her life being a loving daughter, wife, mother, Grams and a true friend to many. She never met a stranger and loved everyone unconditionally. Her smile could light up a room as she spread joy wherever she went. Kay was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Marcum Chapter #61 in Ceredo, W.Va. She was a lifelong Episcopalian, too, first at Trinity Episcopal then for 50-years at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She was an avid MU football fan as well as a UK basketball fan. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 3 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. ELLA MAE SIMPKINS JOHNSON, 101, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at home. She was born June 5, 1915 at East Lynn, W.Va., a daughter of the late William Henry and Annie Mary Sanders Simpkins. Ella was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jeff Johnson, as well as her beloved daughter Anna B. Hutchinson, three brothers, four sisters, and special twin Ona. A lifetime member of the Wolf Pen Church of Christ, Ella was a homemaker and so much more to so many. Survivors include her daughter, Glenna Janette Maynard and her husband Carl of Wayne; grandchildren Carletta (Bob) Fannin, Minetta (Chris) Moore, Jeffrey Carl Maynard, Amy Phillips, and Christy Hutchinson; great grandchildren, Amanda (Ronald) Greer, Jami (Cory) Sansom, Kelli Moore, Payton Boyes, Paige Phillips, Michael Phillips, Madison Hutchinson, and Logan Bradshaw; great-great grandchildren, Trey & Alee Greer, and Oliver Finn Sansom; her second family, special twin Ona’s children; and several other nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. JAMES DOUGLAS FAIRCHILD, 63, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away following an extended illness. He was born June 29, 1952 in Prestonsburg, Ky., a son of the late Roy and Arvie Fairchild. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Charles Fairchild, Gordon Fairchild, and Richard Fairchild, and one sister, Sarah. He leaves behind his wife, Joan Adkins Fairchild of Wayne; one daughter, Irvonna Blackburn of Prestonsburg; two grandchildren, Shaina (Trevor) Cercone of Morehead, Ky., and Matthew Blackburn of Prestonsburg; six siblings, Donald (Debbie) Fairchild, Shannon Fairchild, all of Columbus, Ohio, Mary Clark of Springfield, Ohio, Edna Faye Hayes of New Carlyle, Ohio, Wilma (Vernon) Matthews of Ray, Ohio, and Julie Crumb of Allensville, Ohio; special brother- in-law, James (Enemercy) Maynard of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. JESSE COPLEY, 90, of Dunlow, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2016. He was born January 27, 1926 at Dunlow, W.Va., a son of the late Lawrence and Victoria Nelson Copley. His son, David Lee Eslick also preceded him in death, along with one sister, Nery Jane Williamson, and five brothers, Calvin, Jay, Bill, Vernon, and Chester Copley. A United States Army Veteran, Jesse was retired from General Motors, Detroit, Michigan, and a member of Echo United Baptist Church. He leaves behind his wife, Jannivee Copley; three daughters, Sara (Grover) Copley of Ft. Gay, W.Va., Billie (Donald) Browning of Ft. Gay, Connie (Johnny) Hundley of Genoa, W.Va.; one son, James (Wanda) Eslick of Dunlow; and one grandson, Harold Keathley of Ohio. Also surviving are three sisters, Loreena Martin of Ripley, Oh., Virginia (Earnest) Earl of Barboursville, W.Va., and Betty Lee (Gilbert) Maynard of Wayne; two brothers, Donald (Bonnie) Copley of Dunlow, and Milton (Hilda) Copley of Chesapeake, Oh.; and a host of friends and family. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Brother Tommy Damron officiating. JETTIE LEE LAMBERT BREEDING, 86 of Williamson, WV passed away on June 13, 2016. She was born on April 24, 1930, daughter of the late raymond and Delphia Lambert of east Lynn, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters Norma Porter, Maggie Adkins and Marlene Perry; three brothers ray, Jay and Walter Lambert; two infant sisters and one infant brother; a daughter, Sally Ann; and a son, Daniel Szekely. Survivors include her husband, Stewart "Duck" Breeding, Sr.; two sons, James and Bobby Szekely; daughter, Sandra; a step son Stewart Breeding, Jr.; one sister, Wilda Adkins of fort Gay; and one brother Luke Lambert of Branchland, and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 friday at Smith Cemetery. Morris funeral Home, Wayne, WV is in charge of arrangements. VIRGIE McKENZIE-HORTON, 101 of Louisa passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the home of her daughter in Hitchins, Kentucky. Virgie was born in Louisa on February 7, 1915 to the late Hood and Lizzie Blankenship-McKenzie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her Husband Tom Horton; one daughter Rose Cyrus; two sons Jesse and Wayne Horton; four grandchildren Barbara Workman, Rick McGranahan, Elwood Cyrus and Judy Childers; three great grandchildren April Childers, Darren Hall and Michael Henry as well as seven siblings Jesse McKenzie, Frank McKenzie, Jasper McKenzie, Eli McKenzie, Bill McKenzie, Mary Thompson, Jane McKenzie and Gertrude Collins. Left behind to cherish her memory include seven daughters Joyce and Woodrow McGranahan of Hitchins, KY, Tina and Charles McGranahan of Louisa, KY, Lib and Ray McGranahan of Hitchins, KY, Sue and Jay Moore of Huntington, IN, Rose and Elwood Cyrus of Columbus, OH, Gertrude Rowe of Rush, KY and Irene and Bill Keeton of Port Washington, OH; five sons Sam and Katherine Horton, Jesse and Betty Horton all of Rush, KY, Tommy Horton, Eugene and Lillie Horton and Wane Horton all of Lawrence County, KY; one brother Bee McKenzie as well as numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren all of whom will miss her dearly. LUCY RUTH MORRISON FERGUSON, 76, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born January 8, 1940, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Wade Morrison Sr. and Sophia Bias Morrison. MICHAEL EUGENE DeMARCO, 45, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 following an extended illness. He was born August 23, 1970 at Cleveland, Ohio, a son of the late Eugene Norris and Sandra J. DeMarco. His nephew, Patrick DeMarco also preceded him in death. Michael worked as an electrician and was a member of the BCA Pool League. He leaves behind his daughter, Martena DeMarco of Wayne, W.Va.; two sisters, Susan (Johnny) Adkins of Huntington and Lori (Ray) Piccolomini of Cleveland, Ohio; nieces Andriana Ambrose also of Cleveland and Brooklyn Bolen of Huntington; and great niece and nephew John and Lauren Ambrose of Cleveland. Also surviving is his fiancé Marissa Ramey of Huntington; and a host of aunts, uncles, and special friends. Private services will be held by the family at a later date. On November 15th 1926 MILTON FRANK RIEDEL was born to Louis Charles Riedel and Edna Augusta Stegman Riedel in Wheeling, West Virginia. He graduated from Wheeling High School and attended West Virginia University where he majored in Animal Husbandry. Before his last semester of college, he was drafted into the Air Force where he served as a mechanic and co-pilot. After his service he moved back to Wheeling and became a customer home builder. The homes he built stand proudly as a testament to craftsmanship and dedication to his trade. For over 60 years he worked as a leader in the construction industry from Wheeling to Huntington West Virginia. He enjoyed traveling extensively, spending time with his family. He had a fascination with collecting everything from pocket knives, model tractors and skid steer loaders. Milt will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, friend and avid Marshall football fan. He was a long-time member of Spring Valley Presbyterian Church. There will be a memorial service at the church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, conducted by Rev. Bonnie Boyce. He passed away peacefully on June 17, 2016 surrounded by his family. Milt was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Lee Hobbs Riedel, brothers Harold Riedel, Phillip Riedel, sister Betty Lou Shafferman and step-daughter Gay Elizabeth Davis. MARY HELEN (HONEY) EVANS, of Huntington, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2016, at the age of 82. Born Mary Helen Caldwell on January 13, 1934, Honey was nicknamed by her sister, Mamie Cole, and married Jack Evans on July 27, 1952. Together they raised three grateful children, Linda Saville, Joe Evans, and Andy Evans. Honey was active at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Webster Woods Sunday School class, and where she worked for years in the annual fall Bazaar. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, Marshall sports, and family get-togethers, and was a volunteer at Hospice of Huntington. She is survived by her husband; her children; their spouses, Ralph Saville, Teresa Evans, and Leigh Hubbard; her grandchildren, Brad Saville, Kristin Saville Williams, Clark Evans, and Ross Evans; her great grandchildren, Hayden and Kellan Williams; and her sister. The family extends special thanks to Honey’s church family and longtime neighbors Ed and Gleema Hay. Lonnie previously lived in Rittman, Ohio and retired from Babcock and Wilcox as a machinist after 31 years. He was the best husband, father, papaw, uncle and friend. His sense of humor, stories, and laughter always filled his home. He enjoyed his retirement by coon and squirrel hunting, taking care of and training his dogs, fishing and four wheeling with his wife, singing bluegrass music and watching old western movies. He absolutely loved talking and sharing stories and his hobbies with others. He always welcomed everyone into his home with open arms. He loved his family so much and will be greatly missed. We are comforted in knowing that he is in the arms of our gracious and heavenly father. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Joe Allen; two sons, Michael Lee Allen and Jerry Allen, and six siblings. She is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (Mark) Straight and Roberta Allen and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy worked throughout her marriage to help support the family, she especially enjoyed working side by side with her husband Joe as a custodian. Some of the most enjoyable times of her life were vacationing with her family at Myrtle Beach and cooking large meals to share with friends and neighbors. SENA JANE FERGUSON PERRY, 94, of Dunlow, WV, went to her Heavenly Home Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 m. She was born January 18, 1922 at Dunlow, a daughter of the late Alvis and Betty Finley Ferguson. Her son, Edgar Ray Perry, grandson Wade Edgar Marcum, granddaughter Dawn McDaniels, seven sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death. Survivors include her loving husband of 71 years, Edgar Perry; daughters Edith Faye (Wade) Marcum of Dunlow, WV, Venessa Thomas and Teressa Strickland of Georgetown, KY; two grandsons, Keven (Sherry) Marcum of Fort Gay, WV and Mark Cory) Perry of Orlando, FL; a granddaughter, Jennifer Newsome Wilsondale, WV; a dear daughter-in-law, Anna Susie Perry, who was one of Sena’s caregivers; six great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons and a host of other family and friends. MICHAEL SCOTT ADKINS, 52 of Huntington, WV passed away on June 21, 2016. He was born on July 21, 1963 in Huntington, WV. A son of Timothy B. Patrick and Sharon Frances Adkins. He was preceded in death by his father. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his mother; his daughter, Amber Alexis Adkins, and his son, Anthony Adkins. A memorial service for Michael was held at Westmoreland Baptist Church on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 1 p.m.

WILLIAM E. EVANS, a long time resident of Ceredo, W.Va., passed away in his sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer's on June 22, 2016. Bill was able to do almost anything he could imagine to do with his hands. From a very young age, he worked hard and long hours. He boxed and was a manager at Camden Park's Roller Rink, where he also was a lifeguard when they had a pool. He did auto body work and built a cabin cruiser in one of his aunt's garage. He was a welder and a pipe fitter and did iron work for many years. He told us he helped lay the natural gas line with his dad from Louisa, Ky., toward Kenova. He opened Evaroni's Pizza in Kenova, W.Va., in May of 1968, and spent countless years there making sure he could provide for his family and making sure he had a great product to offer his customers. He was a Ceredo-Kenova High School football fan for many years and an avid Marshall football fan; he spent many happy hours playing golf with his friends. He enjoyed gathering his family for get-togethers, parties and was surrounded by great neighbors who were also good friends. Bill was born on September 27, 1929, the son of the late William Edward Evans and Emogene Rowe Evans. He was preceded in death by one son, Christopher B. Evans and one brother, James D. Evans. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ethel Jean Tufts Evans; his children and their spouses, William E. (Kathleen) Evans, Jr. MD of Exeter, N.H., Steve (Guada) Evans of Huntington, W.Va., Brenda (Mike) Perry and Karen (Philip) Collier, all of Kenova, and James Edwin (Shere) Day of Manassas, Va. He is also survived by two brothers, Jack E. Evans and Richard L. (Stella) Evans, and one sister-in-law, Barbara Sue Evans; 16 grandchildren, William E. Evans III, Nicholas L. Evans, Stefany (Mark) Reyburn, Bianca (Mark) Cooper, Beau (Tessa) Evans, Ryan (Ivonne) Evans, Chris (Bridgette) Perry, and David (Sheena) Perry, Ashley (Tiffany) Crabtree, Adam (Wei Jai) Collier and Samantha Collier, Drew Evans and Mitchell Orr, Mike Evans, Erik Day and Sonja (Nick) Hurt. He also has been blessed with 20 great-grandchildren and many, many beloved nieces and nephews. In his final months, he was blessed with and his family was grateful to have a large staff of kind-hearted aides and staff at Midland Meadows in Ona, W.Va. The family would also like to thank Hospice and their staff for the extra kindness they provided. We also want to note that Bill's son-in-law, Philip Collier, was his constant and loyal friend and companion for many years. FRED WENDELL PARSONS, 83 of Fort Gay, WV entered into rest Thursday, June 23, 2016 at his home in Fort Gay. Mr. Parsons was born April 11, 1933 in Fort Gay, WV to the late Fred and Willie Belle (Moore) Parsons. Mr. Parsons was preceded in death by his Sister, Doris Parsons-Kits, and son in Law John R Tucker. He is survived by his wife: Kathryn (Kitts) Parsons, four daughters: Frankie Lynn Parsons-Tucker of Ashland, KY, Teresa Sue Parsons-Brown and husband Rick of Bremen, IN, Mary Belle Parsons-Thompson and husband David of Fort Gay, WV, Netta Parson-Webb and husband Ronnie of Louisa, KY; two sons: Fred Wendell Parsons, Jr. and wife Sherry of Prichard, WV, Greg Parsons and wife Connie of Cattletsburg, KY ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; a special niece, Kathy Lou Kitts of Fort Gay, WV, and a special friend, Herman Crabtree. HAROLD RAY SMITH, 81, of Ranger, W.Va., passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. He was born May 24, 1935, at Ranger, W.Va., where he spent most of his life. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Laurence Smith, mother Mildred Adkins Smith Midkiff, sister Bonnie Wentz, brothers Dale Smith and Winston Smith, and sister-in-law Ada Smith. He is survived by his faithful and loving wife Callie Louesa Napier Smith; daughter Sherri Elaine Webber (Mark); sons Hal Mark Smith (Kim) and Stuart Clinton Smith (Debbie); grandchildren Sara Phillips (Claiborn), Jessica Bierne (Billy), Kristen Prichard, William Smith, Kyle Smith, Christopher Webber and Joshua Webber; and great-grandchildren Ethan Bierne and Luna Barriteau. Also surviving are brother Delano Smith and sisters Sharon Lovejoy (Roy) and Donna Martin (Fred). He was a member of the Ranger Church of Christ; he loved to read his Bible and pray for his family. When he left this life, he joined family members in paradise to dwell there in peace. His passing breaks the hearts of those who knew him, but his life filled those same hearts with joy and love. He was a man who caused no harm to others, but, rather, enriched the lives of those around him. He attended Ranger Elementary, Guyan Valley High School, and Marshall University (BA & MA+30 in Business Education and Educational Administration). He served three years in the Army. He taught and served in administration capacities at Harts High, Guyan Valley High and Duval High. He served as Treasurer, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent of Lincoln County Schools. Hal was always on the go and loved to learn new things. Over theyears, he became proficient in farming, carpentry, beekeeping, music, writing, and genealogy research; he loved to serve his community and spend time with his family. He was an interesting person and was interested in everything from making molasses to building boats. He served on various community and county committees, boards, and volunteer groups. He helped establish the annual Ranger Homecoming event. He was the driving force in acquiring public water for the Ranger area. He also ran for public office, House of Delegates. He was a member of the Hamlin Masonic Lodge No. 79. He received the Governor's History Award. He also was a member of the Harts High Hall of Fame. He was an avid family and community historian. He has been a prolific reader and writer throughout the years. He contributed several articles to the book, The History of Lincoln County. He wrote and published a quarterly community newsletter, The Ranger Ripples, for 20 years. He wrote a book on county Civil War history, Civil War Veterans of Lincoln County. He collected and recorded information about local cemeteries and was instrumental in recording and preserving the history of his community and county. He enjoyed reading and writing poetry. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2016, at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, W.Va., with Church of Christ ministers Daniel "Boone" Lambert and Page Freeman officiating. ALMA PINSON BALL SMITH, 89, of Kenova, W.Va., mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away June 24, 2016 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Alma was born October 17, 1926 in Warfield, Ky., a daughter of the late Alvin Barrett and Lucy Cassidy Pinson. She loved her Lord and was a faithful servant of Kenova United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class, was active with the quilters, sang with the Golden Chords and served with the greeting team. Alma also loved her family and her friends whom she enjoyed checking on and providing them with meals, fudge, church bulletins and her time. She was a caring and giving woman who you were thankful to call a friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her first husband, Arnold Ball her second husband, Earl Smith, Jr. and one son, Jerry Allen Ball. She is survived by her children and their spouses, David (Doreen) Ball of Huntington, Suzy (Mike) Richardson of Hurricane, W.Va., and Rob Ball of Kenova; she is survived by one brother, Alvin Barrett Pinson, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. DELORES JEAN MULLETT YODER, 77 of Englewood, TN passed away Friday June 24, 2016 at her home. A native of Fort Gay, WV she lived many years in Daleville, IN and the last 15 years in Englewood, TN. She was a daughter of the late John Mullett and Gladys Cyrus Earl and was preceded in death by a sister Marie Newkirk and nephew Michael Newkirk. MERVIN G. KIRK, 71, of Kermit, West Virginia passed away at his home on Saturday, June 25, 2016. He was born in Wayne County, West Virginia on January 13, 1945 to the late Tom Stacy and Edith Kirk. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Chaffin and one sister, Julia Kay Kirk. Mervin is survived by his wife, Ruby J. He is also survived by one sister, Sherry Jude of Beauty, Kentucky. LULA DAVIS HALE, 83, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016, at her residence. She was born December 9, 1932, to the late Sylvester Davis and Lottie Griffin Davis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Raymond Hale. To this union, five children were born, Judy Bloss and husband Tom of Lavalette, W.Va., Janet Chiera and husband Bob, JoAnn Booth and husband Larry, and Raymond Hale Jr. and wife Connie, who was like another daughter, all of Wayne, and Sue Leslie and husband Don of Prichard, W.Va. Also preceding Lula in death was one sister, five brothers three of which were infants, and three brothers-in-law. She is survived by two sisters, Jean Kendrick and Edna Canaday. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Michelle Bloss (Wyn) Baker, Gregg (Jennifer) Bloss, Larry (Celine) Bloss, Tony (Tina) Adams, Joey (Jenn) Booth, Jason (Amy Lynn) Booth, Amy Booth (Joe) Chatterton, Ashley Hale (Clint) Draper, Garrett (Jacqueline) Hale, Donna Leslie (Joshua) Wysong, and Jeremy (Brandi) Leslie; and 28 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Lula attended the Garrett's Creek Church of Christ. She loved her church family and they loved her. She also had two very special friends, Rose Wilson and Kim Adkins. TRAVIS DINGESS, 82, of Fort Gay, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 27, 2016. He was born May 2, 1934 at Wayne, West Virginia a son of the late John and Genevieve Dalton Dingess. Also preceding him in death were eight brothers, Orville, Glen, Leon, Enslow, Jake, John, Dale, and Raymond; one sister, Lucinda Frye; and two sons, Eugene Dingess and Johnny Dingess. Travis was a former truck driver with Blacktop Industries and attended Dunlow Freewill Baptist Church. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Georgia Ann Maynard Dingess; four sons, Delmas (Karen) Shadd of Ashtabula, Oh., Travis H. (Brenda) Dingess of Piketon, Oh., Christion (Shawna) Dingess of Piketon, Oh., and Steven Dingess of ft. Gay; seven grandchildren, Eric, Cassandra, Michael, Christal, Brian, Samantha, Steven Nate; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. VELVA LEE (ADKINS) ADKINS, age 93, formerly of Huntington, W.Va., California, and Florida, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, as her grandson Michael and his family prayed and listened to gospel music with her. Born March 12, 1923, on 10 Mile Creek in Lincoln County, West Virginia, to the late Elisha and Sallie (Dyer) Adkins, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra Adkins, her son, Charles Adkins, two brothers and 10 sisters. Velva was dedicated to serving her family and our Lord Jesus Christ. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Adkins) Brammer, of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Janet (Adkins) Reiswig of Escondido, Calif., seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. The funeral service is on Friday, July 8th at noon, (visitation prior at 11 a.m.) at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, W.Va. Burial following in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

JAMES CHARLES RAMEY, 77, of Crum, West Virginia passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. He was born in Crum, West Virginia on September 13, 1938 to the late Grover and Reba Williamson Ramey. James is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ruth Taylor Ramey, two sons, Greg (Vicki) Ramey and Steve (Sherry) Ramey both of Crum, West Virginia, four grandchildren, Heather Fitch, Michael Ramey, Andrew Ramey and Holly Bowling along with four great- grandchildren, Kailey, Jonah, Hunter and Oliver. He is also survived by four siblings, Clyde Ramey, Deloris Coffee both of Venton, Ohio, Nadine Cisco of Michigan and Ruth Spaulding of Crum, West Virginia. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran. His wife, Flora Adkins also preceded him in death, along with two sisters, Clara Jane Dillon and Olive Faye Nance; and five brothers, Jimmy, Tom, Oscar, Gerald Sluefoot", and Richard "Dickey" Adkins. Survivors include daughter, Michelle Ferrell and husband, Joe of Wayne, WV; three sons, Darrell Adkins, David Adkins and wife, Robin all of Wayne, WV, Randall Adkins of Lavalette, WV; a sister, Lois "Toots" Adkins and husband, Herb of Wayne, WV; two brothers, David Adkins and wife, Sue of Wayne, WV; Wendall Adkins and wife, Jenny of Toledo, OH; six grandchildren, Jordan and Cody Tabor, Tyler "T.J."
