SHIRLEY ANN FULLER, 75, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away on February 1, 2017. She was born on April 2, 1941, in Wisconsin, a daughter of John Vernor Thoorsell and Anna Marie Karlbom. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Fuller; her brothers, James Thoorsell and Robert Thoorsell; sisters, Anna Mae Meller and Agnes Martin. Shirley was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She leaves behind to mourn her loss, James Fuller (Penny), Kristy Fuller (Nathan Waller) and Timothy Fuller; brothers, Jack Thoorsell and Edward Thoorsell; grandchildren, Mason Fuller, Braden Fuller, Kaela Fuller, Paige Vanhoose and Madison Vanhoose. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2017, at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home with Minister Tracy Call. Family will welcome friends one hour prior to services. BEULAH COPLEY MAYNARD HARDWICK, 84, of Fort Gay, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Beulah was born Dec. 20, 1932, at Webb, W.Va., the daughter of the late Jeff and Alma Robinson Copley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Arvil Maynard, a granddaughter, Andrea Michelle Castle, and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Kirchman. Beulah was a retired Wayne County Board of Education employee. Survivors include her loving husband, Colonel Hardwick; three daughters, Christine Evans and husband Jim of Fort Gay, W.Va., Louvon Castle of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Willa Dean Hardwick and husband Greg of Cardington, Ohio; five sons, Joe Maynard and wife Patricia of Maynardsville, Tennessee, Dexter Maynard and wife Paula, Terry Maynard and wife Delores, Grant Maynard and wife Heidi, and Keith Maynard and wife Martha, all of Fort Gay; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5, at Peters Chapel Church with Rev. Darrin Fetherolf and Rev. Richard Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in the Frasher Cemetery, Fort Gay. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, Louisa, Ky.

HOPE BOOTON MEADE, 98, of Big Stone Gap, Va., passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at her home. She was born in Wayne County, West Virginia, and had lived in Big Stone Gap, Va., since 1962. Hope was a charter member and volunteer for the following organizations: Lonesome Pine Hospital Auxiliary, June Tolliver House and the Blue Fox Guild of the John Fox Jr. House. Hope was the 1999 "Citizen of the Year" in Big Stone Gap. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Big Stone Gap, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and Trinity Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Woodrow W. Meade; her parents, Henry Bascom and Maude Spurlock Booton; six brothers, Freelon Booton, Lonnie Booton, Foster Booton, Lowell Booton, Jennings Booton and Harlan Booton; and two sisters, Dixie Booton and Audrey B. Mudd. Surviving are her son, Richard D. Meade of Norton, Va.; daughter, Lana M. Prater of Big Stone Gap; two grandchildren, Tracy Delgado and husband Joe of Atlanta, Ga., and Richard Patrick Meade of Tucker, Ga., and one great-grandchild, Jenna Delgado of Atlanta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church (203 E. 1st St., S.) in Big Stone Gap, Va. Funeral services will follow in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Ronnie Mutter and the Rev. Terry Goodman officiating. MARY ELIZABETH CHRISTIAN, 76 years old, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 2, 2017. She was born July 20, 1940, in Wayne, a daughter of the late Jakie Eplin and Stella Crank Eplin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hoover Christian, and one granddaughter, Heather Nicole Thompson. She leaves behind seven loving daughters, Sharon Brooks of Huntington, Louise Tabor of Dunnellon, Fla., Debbie Garbett (Bill) of Huntington, Becky Dingess (Chuck) of Wayne, Linda Rooney (Jim) of Lesage, Sonja Thompson (Mark) of Huntington and Joan Christian of Danville, W.Va. She also leaves behind 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Mary was a Christian by faith and did the best she knew how to live by that faith. She believed in God's promises and was definitely a firm believer in the power of prayer. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with Pastor James Jobe officiating. Burial will be in Crook Cemetery. MALINDA TOPPINS CRAWFORD, 87, of Wayne, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Elders Roger Maynard, Tommy Damron and Tony Clay officiating. Burial will follow at the Toppins Family Cemetery, Kiahs Creek. Malinda was born on September 6, 1929, in Wayne County to the late Frank Toppins and Dona Webb Toppins. She was a member of Philadelphia United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Crawford, sisters, Carrie Nelson Sutherland, Nora Maggard and infant Gladys Toppins. Survivors include her sisters, Zell Ison of Ashland, KY, Jane Jaro (Ronnie) of Waco, TX, Stella Cook (Darrell) of Wayne, Dottie Williamson (Monroe) of Ranger, and Pauline Kundera (Adam) of Bridgeton, NJ, five brothers; John Toppins (Juanita) of Parma Heights, Ohio, Walter Toppins (Linda) of Wayne, Everett Toppins (Shirley) of Huntington, Richard Toppins of North Carolina and Roger Toppins (Mary) of Genoa. LLOYD JOE THOMPSON, 82, of Prichard, WV passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Joe was born March 31, 1934 in Prichard, WV a son of the late Neal and Hazel Hatten Thompson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, John Thompson and his son in law, Jimmy Branham. Joe was a United States Army Veteran who served his country honorably. Joe was a retired sheet metal worker and a retired bus driver for the Wayne County Board of Education. Survivors include, his loving wife, Nina Fay Canterbury Thompson of Prichard, WV.; children, Tommy Joe (Karen) Thompson of Prichard, WV.; Rita (Timothy) Yates of Louisa, Ky.; Anita Branham of Louisa, Ky.; Amy (Joe) Ekers of Prichard, WV; sister, Brenda Curry of Prichard, WV; grandchildren, Trenton Damron, Darren Thompson, Tyler Branham, Nick Branham, Jacob Ekers, and Riley Ekers; great grandchildren, Jimmy Branham, Bronson Damron, and Garrett Ekers. PATRICIA ANN "Patty" LUNSFORD WILCOX, 69 of Catlettsburg passed away Friday February 3, 2017 at Kings Daughters Medical Center, her adoring family at her side. Mrs. Wilcox was born August 26, 1947 in Kenova, WV to the late Noah W. and Lulia Wilma Dyer Lunsford. Patty was a 1965 graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School and later was a dedicated homemaker who loved taking care of her family. Her hobbies included reading, crafts, crosswords, and gardening. Survivors include her husband of 19 years Joseph Wayne Wilcox, children Lisa J. Gillum of Greensburg, PA, Thomas W. Gillum (Jaime) of Elyria, OH, Michele Cannon (Josh) of Germany, Kelly Elizabeth Dore’ of Germany, Michael Wilcox of Lorain, OH, and Bryan Wilcox of Lorain, OH; grandchildren Shawna Wireman, Bryan Wireman, Elizabeth Mixon, Gabriel Sandoval, Triton Gillum, Jazlyn Gillum, and Jonathan Gillum, two great grandchildren Teagan Korber and Brynn Korber. Also surviving are siblings Bobby Lunsford, Glen Lunsford (Cheryl), Linda Elmer (Harry), and Debbie Lucas (Bill), all of Ashland, and several nieces and nephews. GARY DEAN HAYNIE, 70 of Kenova, WV passed away on February 4, 2017. He was born on August 27, 1946 in Boyd County, KY; a son of the late Arthur Haynie and Doris Chandler Haynie. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 93 in Kenova, WV and tended bar there for his buddies. He was also a member of the VFW. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his beloved wife, Carla Haynie; a daughter, Ashley Lynn Haynie; a brother, Mike Haynie (Jean); and his precious fur baby, Macy Grace. KIMBERLY ANN COOK, 34, of Kermit, W.Va., passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at her home. Kimberly was born August 31, 1982 in Huntington, WV a daughter of William Jennings Cook and Sandra Dee Robinson Piersall. She was a homemaker. Kimberly was preceded in death by her aunt, Lutie Cook York and her grandfather, William Cook. Survivors include, one son, Tyler Jordan Jones of Fort Gay, WV.; parents, William Jennings Cook of Fort Gay, WV.; mother, Sandra Dee Piersall of Lexington, Ky.; brothers, William Travis (Katreena) Cook of Louisa, Ky.; David Piersall of Lexington, Ky.; grandmother, Betty Thompson of Fort Gay, WV.. HELEN MARIE LANE, 80, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord February 4, 2017. She was born a daughter of the late Seigel and Bertha Thacker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Major Harvey Lane, and one infant son, Bernard Alan Lane. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Gary Scarberry of Huntington; her beloved granddaughters and grandson-in-law, Elizabeth and Shawn Freize, and her beloved granddaughter, Cassandra Scarberry; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Charles Richards; five special nieces, Janet, Brittany, Allison, Kassidy and Ava Napier, as well as three special nephews, Tim, Timmy and Brayden Napier. Other survivors include her lifelong friend, Ruth Bailey Zilcand, and special friends, Jim and Debbie Curnutte. Helen was a homemaker and former employee of Nasser's Department Store and Coach's Inn Motel. She was a graduate of Huntington High School and attended Huntington Junior College and had volunteered at SMMC. Helen was a member of the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church and also attended New Testament Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving, giving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Graveside services will be conducted 1:15 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Pastor Eddie Hay officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the funeral procession leaving afterward. DANEY LEE MARCUM, 57, of Kermit, West Virginia passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in Jennies Creek, West Virginia. He was born in Mingo County, West Virginia on June 30, 1959 to the late Hubert and Bernice Brewer Marcum. Daney is survived by his companion, Deno Hodge and his siblings, Chester Marcum, Dollie Marcum, Amanda Sue Marcum all of Columbus, Ohio, Hubert Marcum Jr. of Vinton, Ohio, Kenneth Marcum of Louisa, Kentucky, Nellie Mae Williams of Warfield, Kentucky, Wanda Ann Marcum, Jude Holland and Aaron Arnold Marcum all of Kermit, West Virginia along with several nieces and nephews. RUBY FINLEY MAYNARD, 93, of Wayne, WV, formerly of Kiahsville, WV, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Elder Tommy Damron, Roger Maynard and Pastor Jack Marcum officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. She was born on March 11, 1923, in Kiahsville, WV, to the late John Finley and Virginia "Jenny" Counts Finley. Ruby was a member of the Salem United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Maynard, one son, Jerry Maynard, a daughter, Patricia Napier, three sisters; Lilly Marcum, Dicie Elliott and Pansy McCoy and a brother, Otto Counts. Survivors include her son Phillip Maynard (Clair), daughter, Linda Maynard (Wilford) all of Wayne, WV, son-in-law, Clifford Napier of East Lynn, WV, ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. KATHLEEN SAMMONS DOSS, 67, of Fort Gay, WV passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Kathy was born February 1, 1950 in Webb, WV a daughter of the late Opie Clayton and Romaine Copley Sammons. She was a homemaker, and was a member of Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Clayton Sammons. Kathleen leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Timothy "Buzz" Doss of Fort Gay, WV.; daughter, Katrina K. NANCY JEDRRYLENE MALLORY, born on May 24, 1939, went home to be with her Savior on February 6, 2017. She was preceded in death by her mother; Charlene Dial Justice, father; Chauncy Scarberry, sisters; Avis Hatfield and Jeanie Scarberry, brother; Charles Scarberry, and granddaughter; Jessica Sowards. Nancy is survived by her children; Charles and Michelle Sowards of Newport, TN, Jerry and Susie Sowards of Wayne, WV, John Gilbert of Huntington, WV, and Robert Mallory of Wayne, WV. She also leaves behind grandchildren Kelly, Jerry Len, Kylie, Brandi, Justin, Ryan, seven great grandchildren, and beloved nieces; Teresa Smoot, Jennifer, April, and special niece Billie Earls and a host of other relatives and friends. She was a member of Tucker Memorial Baptist Church and retired from Cabell-Wayne Association of the Blind as a driver. Services were Friday February 10th at Reger Funeral Home. A memorial viewing was conducted at 10 am and a memorial service followed at 11 am. Services were conducted by Pastor Chadd Hatfield. TRAVIS LEE NORMAN, 24, of Huntington, WV, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cox Cemetery, Genoa, WV. He was born July 21, 1992 in Huntington, WV, a son of Keith Norman and Roberta Roseberry of Huntington, WV. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Simpson Roseberry and Dorothy May Roseberry, Brenda Sue Blankenship; two uncles, Leonard Roseberry and Jackie Finley. Survivors include two brothers, Brian Norman and wife, Ashley of Wayne, WV, Jeffery Sewell of Huntington, WV; his grandfather, Jessie Blankenship of Genoa, WV aunts and uncles, Larry and Margaret Kinser, Mike and Phyllis Adkins, Lawrence and Donna Roseberry, Brenda Russell, Dunkie and Sue Roseberry, Danny Roseberry, Clayton Roseberry and Missy Messer; a very special cousin, Allen Maynard. D. RAY NAPIER, 65, of Wayne, WV, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at his residence. He was born September 12, 1951 in Stiltner, WV a son of the late Delbert and Irene Spence Napier. His wife, Alice Darlene Napier and a daughter, Tammy Darlene Napier, also preceded him in death. He formerly worked at Ballard’s. Survivors include: his son, Raymond Napier of Atlanta, GA; his sister, Deborah Napier Hicks; his nephew, Kenny Hicks, Jr.; and his companion, Amber Hunter, her children, Peri Hunter and Orion Hunter, and her grandchildren, Anastasia Hunter and Aubree Hunter. The world lost the most wonderful woman on February 8, 2017. LEONA JO WILSON passed away in her sleep and the Lord got the most beautiful angel. Leona was born September 7, 1927 in Fort Gay, WV to Charlie and Inez Thompson. She retired from Design Metal. She left behind five children: Roger (Barbara) Wilson of Ashland, OH, Karen (Gary) Cole of Mansfield, Charlotte (Jerry) Coy of Willard, Gary (Regina) Wilson of Mansfield, Don (Anita) Wilson of Belliville; 19 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two sisters Leota Rowe of Huntington, WV, Gladys White of Mansfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Anna Sue Bittenger, Irma Hayden, Virginia Hampton, Brenda Johnson; brothers Ralph, Joseph, Charles Thompson. RALPH BUTCH FRALEY, 86, of East Lynn, W.Va., passed away Wednesday evening, February 8, 2017 at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 17, 1931 at Stiltner, West Virginia, a son of the late Homer and Flora Ramey Fraley. He was also preceded in death by his wife Fannie Magdalene Fraley; brother Homer Fraley Jr.; and his first wife and mother of his children, Maxine Frasher Riddle. Butch was a member of Wolf Pen Church of Christ. Survivors include three children, Monna "Mona" (Gerald) Kay of Harbour Beach, Mich., and Laveta (Donald) Gardner of Lincoln Park, Mich., and Ralph Fraley, Jr. of New Tazewell, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Donnie Gardner, who had made five generations at his birth, Steven (Tracy) Gardner, Angela Gardner, James Gardner, Bryan (Carrie) Kay, Lisa Kopec, Sharon (Daniel) Herrell, Catherine Fraley, Eric (Scarlett) Fraley, Deidre Fraley and her fiancé Jason Pabon; and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Lucille Windle of Carlton, Mich., sister-in-law, Charlotte Fraley and her children, Gerry (Barb) Fraley, Debbie (Tim) and Anita Fraley; step-daughter Carrol "Sue" Algeri and her husband and family of Florida; and special friends George (Carol) Nelson. JAMES W. WATTS, 81, of Lavalette, W.Va., went home to the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born November 19, 1935 at Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Frances and Emogene Cox. Also preceding him in death was one son, James H. Watts; granddaughter Brandy Lee McGowan; and great grandson, Jace Ryan McGowan. James was retired from Huntington Interstate Milk Producers Association and a member of Mays Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eva Watts; daughters, Theresa (Bob) Talbert, Connie (Gary) McGowan both of Huntington; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Yvonne (Raymond) Cox of Washington, W.Va., and Frances Ann (Danny) Hickman of Parkersburg, W.Va.; brothers-in-law, Ulysis (Loretta) Walters and Harold (Lorraine) Walters both of Huntington, and James Tate of Georgia; sister-in-law Lavonne (John) McDunley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Jack retired in 1993 from McJunkin Company where he was Senior Vice President. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. NANCY CAROLYN STARETT, 81, of Ceredo, W.Va., passed away on February 13, 2017, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born on July 11, 1935, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a daughter of James Earl Downey and Mamie Beatrice Vincent Downey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Roy Lee Taylor Jr. and Harland Morris Starett; her son, James Roy Taylor; sister, Dorothea Ellen Downey Nutter Sacs McDermott. Nancy was a member of Church of God in Kenova, W.Va., a skilled pianist, a published Christian songwriter and an avid bowler. She also was a talented beautician, seamstress and a master at crochet. She made many matching crocheted dresses for little girls and their dolls in the C-K area. Her great-grandchildren were the joy of her last days and she was fascinated by technology that allowed her to FaceTime them while they played at home. Nancy loved anything pertaining to horses; her greatest disappointment was not being brave enough to learn to ride. She graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1953 and had the most amazing time at her 50th class reunion. She leaves behind to mourn her loss her daughter, Pamela Akers (Michael); grandchildren, Jessica Copeland (Jason) and Nathan Akers (Alicia Sparks); great-grandchildren, Everett Michael Copeland and Edith Maxine Copeland; niece, Linda Jane Gimmel; and nephews, Michael Sacs, Jeffrey Sacs and Brian McDermott. CARRIE OPAL FISHER, 106, was born on October 4, 1910, and passed peacefully on to her heavenly home February 17, 2017. She was the daughter of Minnie and Julius Marion Smith, and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Grandville Fisher. Opal was also preceded in death by sisters Ada (Edison) Bowen, Reba (Charlie) Smith and Julius (George) Cox, and by a niece Marion Jean Adkins, nephews Jack Smith and Tob Adkins. She is survived by niece Pam Burcham and nephews Billie (Donna) Bowen, Ronald (Olive) Smith and a host of great-nieces and nephews, whom she adored. She is also survived by her faithful friend and neighbor, Joe Chapman. Aunt Opal, as many of us knew her, was a grand and classy lady who was a lifelong resident of Lavalette. She was also a longtime member of Lavalette United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully with grace and dignity, and was its oldest member. He retired from the City of Huntington where he worked for the sanitary board. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt. His wife, Irene Constance Adkins, two sons, Charles Edward Adkins Jr. and Daniel Stephenson, and several brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. Survivors include four daughters, Linda Plybon (Danny) and Carolyn Plybon (David "Porky"), all of Prichard, W.Va., Patricia Smith (Rodney) of Huntington, W.Va., and Beverly Spears (Mike) of Mason County, West Virginia; a son, Tony Adkins of Huntington, W.Va.; a sister, Nada Lucas of Barboursville, W.Va.; a brother, Doffice Adkins of Wayne, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. LOIS JEAN RAMEY CLARK, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 21, 2017 at Crystal Care Nursing and Rehab Center in Coal Grove, Ohio. She was born in Stiltner, WV and lived most of her life in Jackson, Ohio. She is the youngest daughter of the late Isaac A. Ramey and Elizabeth Spence Ramey. Lois was also preceded in death by her siblings: Ulysses Grant Ramey, Almeda Maynard, Erma Finley, Irene Cyrus and Madeline Keister. Survivors include two step-children, Tom and Judy Clark, as well as several nieces and nephews. Lois moved to Jackson, Ohio as a teenager to help Almeda’s son Paddy. After graduating from Bloomfield High School, she married John Franklin Clark. She was employed by the Pants Factory in Jackson and was also a homemaker. She was active in the community clubs and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, Ohio. Lois and John traveled throughout the world and spent their winters in Texas for forty years where she was an active volunteer leading "Toys for Tots" for many years, leading an exercise class and leading water aerobics. She was also an excellent bridge player and an avid flower gardener. They enjoyed RVing, fishing, and boating in Canada every summer and Texas every winter. She lived life to the fullest and found a friend wherever she went. VIRGINIA E. ADKINS OSBURN, 89, widow of Scott Osburn, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Her journey ended after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease, with loving support from family, friends and caregivers. Virginia was born in Wayne County, West Virginia, on July 28, 1927, the second of four children to Gallie and Myrtle Smith Adkins. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Scott Osburn; brother, Norman E. Adkins; and brother-in-law, Paul Don Niday. Survivors include her son, Keith Osburn and his wife Nicki of Huntington; grandsons, Jason (Kathy) Osburn of Proctorville, Ohio, and Wes Osburn of Huntington; sister, Thelma Niday of Barboursville; brother, Donald (Dorothy) Adkins of Wayne, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Mae Adkins of Piqua, Ohio; and nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly. Virginia graduated from Wayne High School in 1945. She was employed at Sylvania until its closing. After completing secretarial courses at Century College, she was employed at Guaranty National Bank until retirement in 1990. Scott and Virginia enjoyed bus trips, gardening, golfing and spending time with family and friends. Sunday dinners, family reunions and holidays were always special events. For years they attended First Baptist Church of Proctorville and were baptized in the fall of 2010 by Rev. Jeff Black. DELBERT RANDALL COLE, 67, of Ceredo, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017. He was born September 7, 1949, in Buckhannon, W.Va., a son of the late Douglas B. and Edith Pruitt Cole. Randall worked as a brakeman for the C&O Railroad for many years. He was a C-K High School graduate and attended both West Virginia Wesleyan and Marshall University. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion Post 93 Kenova, whose Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. In addition to his parents, Randall was preceded in death by one nephew, James A. Cole Jr. He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas B. (Hersie) Cole of Cannonsburg, Ky., and James A. (Mary Elizabeth) Cole of Ceredo, W.Va.; one niece, Beverly (Gary) Simmons of Ft. Myers, Fla.; three nephews, Steven (Debby) Cole of Cannonsburg, Ky., William D. (Heather) Cole of Houston, Texas, and Brian K. (Melissa) Cole of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and several grand-nieces and -nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, March 3, 2017, at Rollins Funeral Home, Kenova, with Pastor Jim Richards officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. STEPHEN CHASE ADKINS, 25 of Ceredo, W.Va., passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017, at his home. Chase was born August 24, 1991, a son of Oscar Stephen (Tammy) Adkins of Ceredo and Anna Sherrif Beverly of Tampa, Fla., and stepfather Jeffrey Beverly of Miami, Fla. He graduated from Spring Valley High School and was a graduate student at Marshall University. Chase was inducted into the Golden Key Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. He loved music and was a very talented musician, playing several instruments. He had a band named "Solus Bulba," which played at several local venues. Chase was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alan and Mary Sheriff; two paternal grandmothers, Judith Porter and Tannis Lane Adkins; and one uncle, Mark A. Adkins. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandfather, Otis (Carole) Adkins of Ceredo; one brother, Brandon; four sisters, Taylor, Baylee, Ashley and Jadyn; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and a host of friends. Chase was loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ceredo. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday March 2, 2017, beginning at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastor Rodney Hale officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Memory Gardens. JIMMY E. BARKER, of Chesapeake, Ohio, formerly of West Liberty, Ky., passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017, at his residence, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 27 days. He was born Saturday, October 29, 1938, at Grear, Ky., son of the late Bronson and Hattie Perry Barker. Jimmy was united in marriage to Frances Stacy. This union was blessed with two sons, Greg and Jon. He was a retired farmer, a Christian and a former member of the Centerville Community Church. In addition to his parents, Bronson and Hattie Barker, he was preceded in death by one son, Gregory E. Barker; one sister, Faye Stottlemyer; and five brothers, Julian, Ancil, Hershell, Stanley and Curtis Barker. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Frances Stacy Barker; one son, Jon and Teffaney Johnston Barker of Chesapeake, Ohio; four grandchildren, Gregory Alek Barker, Bronson Kyle Barker, Devin Michael Barker and Jon-Cooper Wray Barker; one brother, Jerry Paul and Violet Barker of West Liberty, Ky.; two sisters, Lenora Gay and Donnie DeBorde and Treva and Gordon King, all of West Liberty, Ky.; and a host of nieces and nephews. MARY ELIZABETH SUTFIN, 72, of Kenova, W.Va., went to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 26, 2017. She was born on November 4, 1944, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of Claude Cooper and Opal Scarberry. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, James Ray Sutfin. Mary worked all her life as a nurse, caring for others. She leaves behind her daughter, Jamie Renee Hutchison (Jeremy); one grandchild, Jessica Elizabeth "Sassy" Damron (Corey); two great-grandchildren, Dryve Ray Damron and Sawyer Reid Damron; and one sister-in-law, Carol Evelyn Sutfin. HENRIETTA NAPIER DYER, 100, of Wayne, formerly of Waverly, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on her 100th birthday, Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation with family by her side. Henrietta was born at Stiltner, W.Va., to the late Lucian and Martha Ross Napier and lived on Lick Creek during her younger years. In 1938, she married Homer "Boss" Dyer, who preceded her in death in 1984. They both worked in Cleveland, Ohio, for many years, and upon their retirement moved to Waverly, Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, preceding her in death were two brothers, Ralph Napier and William Napier, and two sisters, Betty Lou Lucas and Pauline Skeens. Surviving are three sisters, Nancy Margaret Wallace of Wayne, W.Va., Rebecca (Coy) Spence of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Martha Fay (Merrill) Pack of Spencer, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Napier of Waverly, Ohio, and Lucille Napier of Wayne, W.Va. Many nieces and nephews will also continue to cherish memories of their Aunt's kind, sweet and gentle nature. Henrietta was a longtime member of Salem United Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star, Elbrook Chapter #408. ROBERT L. BLOCK, 77, of Branchland, W.Va., lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1939 at Marrowbone, W.Va., a son of the late Lafe and Elizabeth Vance Block. Also preceding him in death were five brothers, John Block, Mosey Block, Charley Block, George Block and Gid Block; and three sisters, Liz Charles, Handy Burchfield, and Martha Block. He leaves behind two brothers, Jack Block of Crum, W.Va., and Lafe Block of Branchland; one sister, Jessie (George) Finley of Branchland; a host of nieces and nephews; very special friends, Landon and Brenda Toppins and Tom Fry. VERNON "PAUL" CROCKETT, 82, of Barboursville, W.Va., formerly of Wayne County, W.Va., took his precious wife's hand and God's hand and crossed over into eternity at his daughter Paula's home, surrounded by his loving family, on February 28, 2017. Paul was very much loved by his family and everyone that truly knew him. He was a loyal, kind soul. He was always looking out for those that he felt could not take care of themselves, even to the point of self-sacrifice at times. American Legion Post 93 of Kenova will perform graveside military rites. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Crockett and Laura Dean Crockett. Also brothers, Herman, Bill, Allen and Charlie; and sisters, Virginia, Nola, Gladys and Maymie. His surviving sister is Naomi Davis of Ashland, Ky. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee Tate, which he had formed a special bond with during Gary's final days here on earth. Lastly he was preceded by the love of his life, Beatrice Helen Radcliff Crockett. After the loss of his precious Bea, he was never the same, even though her loss brought him to know the Lord as his savior and he started going to church and was baptized into the family of God at Huntington Christian Church in Westmoreland on October 15, 2014. He was a faithful member and loved the church and fellowship there.
