BILLIE K. SMITH, 69, of Genoa, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born November 9, 1947 at Stephenson, W.Va., a daughter of the late Clifton "Buck" and Phyllis Meadows. Her husband John K. Smith also preceded her in death along with one brother, Michael Meadows. Billie will always be remembered for her love of God and her generous heart. She leaves behind one daughter, Angela (Joey) Lawson of Genoa; and special friends Ed Griffin, who loved and cared for her dearly, Marsha Mattingly, of Huntington, W.Va., Billy Amrhein of Johnson City, Tenn. The funeral procession will leave Johnson Tiller Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017 for graveside services on her property with Preacher Ronnie Ross officiating. ORMA LEE CLARK, 79, of Fort Gay, formerly of South Point, Ohio, widow of Leslie Clark Sr., died March 1, 2017 in Grayson Care and Assisted Living, Huntington. CHARLES EDWARD McCLOUD, 56, of Huntington, son of Orville and Delia McCloud, died March 1, 2017 in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was a self-employed carpet installer and lineman for Mid Atlantic Pipeline. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington; burial following in Dock's Creek Cemetery, Maple Hill Section, Kenova. MAE VIRGINIA STILTNER, 86, of Mallory, W.Va., formerly of Wayne, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston. She was born on September 9, 1930, in Logan, a daughter of the late Albert Napier and Laura Talbert Napier. Mae was a homemaker and a member of Canada Chapel Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William "Tob" Stiltner, three sisters: Pauline Hall, Hazel Tabor and Bessie Napier, three brothers: Albert Jr., Arthur and William Napier, son-in-law, Max Parsons and granddaughter Mary Parsons. Survivors include two daughters: Paula Parsons and Frances Grimmett (Tracy) all of Logan, WV, five sons: William Stiltner Jr. (Cathy) of Fredricksburg, VA, Albert Stiltner (Brenda) of Lavalette, WV, Clyde Stiltner (Sadie) of Jackson, Ohio, John Stiltner (Peggy) of Logan, WV, and Douglas Stiltner (Nema) of Wayne, WV. She is also survived by a very special sister-in-law Dot Stiltner, 26 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Pastor Johnny Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the Napier Cemetery, Wayne. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

RONNIE LEE FERGUSON, 70, of Dunlow, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Three Rivers Medical Center, Louisa, KY. He was born on September 4, 1946 at Dunlow, WV, a son of the late Richard Lee and Rebecca Marcum Ferguson Bradley. Ronnie was an accomplished musician that could play virtually anything placed in his hands. His love for music would bring his usually quiet personality to life. He was a self-employed mechanic and enjoyed fishing as well as working on antique cars. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Laura Ferguson. Survivors include three daughters: Rebecca Lynn Stone of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Carrie Diane Ferguson of Gaylord, Michigan and Sherry Elaine Ferguson of Johannesburg, Michigan, a sister Nancy Stroud (Floyd) of King, North Carolina, two brothers: Joe Ferguson (Linda) of Dunlow, WV, and Emanuel Ferguson (Anna) of Huntington, WV, three grandchildren: Kaitlyn Marie Stone, Daniel Allen Mroz and David Ryan Ferguson and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday with funeral services following at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne. A private family burial will follow at a later date.

DAN LESLIE CORNWELL, our kind, loving father, passed from this life to the next on Thursday, March 2, 2017, after living a life that was an example to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife and our mother, Neola Browning Cornwell, his parents, Jennings and Wilma Cornwell, and an infant sister. He is survived by his three children, Diane (Jim) Corns of Ceredo, Danny (Lisa) Cornwell of Kenova and William (Bill) Cornwell, also of Kenova. He also has four grandchildren, Mandy (Craig) Brumfield, Brian Cornwell, Kerri (Mike) Smith and Whitney (Evan) Adkins. He was adored by his great grandchildren, Colten, Tre', Chloe, Emma, Kohde, Kiki, Aiden, Corbin, Kohen, Austin and Chad. He is also survived by his twin sister and brother, Jeanette Dorsey and Jennings (Violet) Cornwell. He served in WW II in the US Navy and was a member of American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, whose military Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. In 1959 and 1960, he served as Mayor of Kenova. Daddy was retired from a job he loved with the N & W Railroad. He and mother enjoyed many years of retirement following Marshall University teams. He began his love of Marshall when he ushered at games as a 14-year-old Boy Scout. He remained faithful as a season ticket holder through the current 2017 season. He spent his last hour on the Earth listening to the Herd game and being sad for the loss. Our family has been assisted during the last two months by the kind people of Hospice, nurse Sandy and his aide, Trish; also thank you to sweet Deborah for her loving care during his final days. He was a member of Kenova United Methodist Church and was on the Cradle Role since two weeks of age. He also enjoyed singing in the Golden Chords Senior Choir. His Upper Room Sunday school class was veryfaithful with their visits, cards, calls and treats. One of his last fun days was his 90th birthday party, held on May 21, 2016. He said that was one of the best days of his life and he shared it with many friends, family and church family. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the Kenova United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 6, at the church with Pastor Jim Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. ALMIS OTIS "BLACKIE" BLANKENSHIP, 84, of Kenova, husband of Gertrude Arlene Rowsey Blankenship, died March 2, 2017 in River's Bend Health Care, South Point, Ohio. He worked as a diesel mechanic in the automotive field. Beloved husband and father, SATTIS GEORGE LANDIS, 81, of Wayne, W.Va., departed this world for his eternal life Friday, March 3, 2017, at Florida Waterman Hospital, Tavares, Fla. He was born March 22, 1935, at Kenna, W.Va., a son of the late Cleo and Vertie Landis. Two sisters and one brother also preceded him in death. Sattis served in the US Army, was retired from American Electric Power Company with 40 years of service, and a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Frances Landis; two children, Joyce Gebhart and Jeffrey Sattis (Vicki) Landis; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one on the way. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home, Wayne, W.Va., with Brother Harry Ramsey and Pastor Leo Scaggs and Brother Richard Childers officiating. ARNOLD CHESTER HAYTON passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017, at the age of 89 years. He was born on July 6, 1927, in Kenova, West Virginia, to King Joseph Hayton and Lou Ella Thompson. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. On June 22, 1963, he married Barbara Jean Furby at the Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. In 1980, Chester retired from Farm Credit Banks, and from 2000 to 2010, he worked for the Houston Astros. He is survived by his sons John Hayton of Houston and James Hayton of Los Angeles; brother Charles Hayton and his wife Della of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; sister Carol Sue Meredith and her husband Berlin of Kenova, West Virginia; sister-in-law Elizabeth Hayton of Kenova, West Virginia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Furby Hayton on November 16, 2012; his parents; and siblings Mary Jo Arrowood and William Hayton. The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway in Katy, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the Trinity Baptist Church, in Katy, with Rev. Josh Guajardo officiating. Forever in our hearts, Infant TEIGHLOR STEPHENS, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC, Pittsburg, Penn. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Delmas Christopher Marshall. Teighlor was deeply loved by her parents, Alyssa Marshall and Tyler Stephens of East Lynn, W.Va.; maternal grandparents, Bertha and Jennings Noble; paternal grandparents, Terry and Christina Stephens; and one sister, Addison Stephens. LOUISE ROWE, 95 of Genoa, WV, went home to Jesus Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Monday, March 6, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Tony Cox. Burial will follow at Rowe Family Cemetery in Genoa, WV. She was born September 19, 1921 in Genoa, WV, a daughter of the late Taylor and Rebecca Holland Cassidy. Louise was a hard working homemaker who enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and singing. Also preceding her in death was her husband of over 50 years, Raymond Rowe; along with two granddaughters, Carol Rowe and Rayna Rowe, a great-granddaughter, Emma Sias and a son-in-law, Earl Ball. Survivors include four daughters, Pat Ball of Huntington, WV, Janice Napier of Wayne, WV, Connie Grubb of Genoa, WV, Josephine Adkins and husband, Roy of Midkiff, WV; three sons, Roger Rowe of WV, Robert Rowe and wife, Scheilla of Genoa, WV, James Rowe and wife, Carla of South Point, OH; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Today we celebrate the life of our mother, wife and friend. SHARON THORNBURG, age 76, went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2017. Visitation will be March 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Reger Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 10, at noon at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Memory Gardens. She lived an amazing life and touched many hearts! She was extremely proud to be an incredible mother to her two sons, Todd and Nick Thornburg, who she gave her heart and soul to as a mother! Her two sons were her life and she made sure that they were raised to be polite, courteous and taught true friendship toward people. We could not ask for a more loving mother and we will love and miss her so much! She was married to her husband of 54 years, Coach Jim Thornburg! She was known as a football widow due to coach T's lifelong dream of coaching! Sharon was an intricate part of the coaching team. For years she would wash uniforms, cook for the team, be a counselor to many of the players, and a mom to some who needed her in that capacity! Sharon was also an amazing Nonnie (grandmother) to her wonderful grandkids that she loved and cherished with all her heart! Colton Thornburg, 9, and Ava Thornburg, 13. Noah Toney, 19 who is proudly serving our country as a soldier, Chris Reffitt, 13, and Jenna Reffitt, 16. Of all her joys in her life, her biggest was being a grandmother! Sharon is also loved by her two daughters-in-law, Julie Gentile Thornburg and Amy Toney Thornburg! Sharon will be met in heaven by her late brother and sister-in-law, Butch and Glenna Fetty, mom and dad, Billie and Norvell Fetty. And in-laws, Josephine and Carl Thornburg. This is some of the beloved family members and in-laws who will miss her every day. Tom and Sandy Thornburg, Bob Thornburg and his girlfriend Janet Shepard. JAMES MICHAEL "RAISIN" EVANS, 58, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born February 3, 1959, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Shirley Evans. He was a self-employed mechanic and a past member and honorary member of the Kenova Volunteer Fire Department. Besides his mother, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie and Garnet Evans, who raised him. Survivors include his wife, Theresa Fisher Evans; two daughters and one son-in-law, Amandia Bowen (Eddie) of Kenova and Becky Caproni of Chesapeake, Ohio; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael Todd Evans (Jennifer) of Elizabeth City, N.C., and James Patrick Evans of Kenova; six grandchildren, Breanna and Hannah Evans, Hunner and Tanner Evans, Destanee Carter and Leiah Bowen; one brother and sister-in-law, Todd Evans (Mary) of Summersville, S.C.; four special cousins whom he had just been united with; and a host of other family and friends. JESSIE LEE DAVIS, 92, of Willowick, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Elders Glen Penix, Flem Arrowood, Glen Arrowood and Roger Dutton. Burial will follow at Arrowood-Dutton Cemetery, Wayne, W.Va. He was born January 20, 1925, in Naugatuck, W.Va., a son of the late Harvey and Elander Hensley Davis. Jessie was a retired purchasing agent for General Motors. Also preceding him in death was his beloved wife whom he married December 6, 1947, Clara Dutton Davis, along with two sisters, Irene (Clyde) Blair and Maxidine Adkins (Bill Taylor). Although Jessie and Clara did not have children of their own, they played a role in raising two nephews, Earnest Oval Stanaford and Michael Lee Stanaford. They also enjoyed the privilege of being Mamaw and Papaw to Michelle Ann Stanaford (Ring) and Christina Marie Stanaford. They were blessed at the age of 69 to open their hearts and home to Mariah Marie Stanaford Trickey. She was the little girl they had always wanted. GRACIE ADKINS PERRY, 97, of Lavalette, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Don Napier and Glen Kiah Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. She was born on February 21, 1920, at Logan, W.Va., a daughter of the late Cleveland and Charity Kimbler Adkins. Gracie was a member of Philadelphia United Baptist Church and formerly worked for Corbin Ltd. as a seamstress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Perry. Survivors include her three sons, Douglas Adkins (Joyce), Clifton Adkins, all of Wayne, and Wilburn Adkins (Patty) of Lavalette; two sisters, Opal Jefferies of Wayne and Patty Ramey of Lavalette; two brothers, Danny Ramey of Logan and Perry Ramey Jr. of Wayne; eight grandchildren, Barry Douglas Adkins, Vicki Locklear, Raymond Adkins, Larry Adkins, Shana Gray, Joey Adkins, Chris Adkins and Helen Carter, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Gracie was blessed with many wonderful friends, family and neighbors whom she loved greatly. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the entire staff of Wayne Nursing and Rehab for their loving care of Gracie. GLEN STILTNER, 66, of East Lynn, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 9, 2017. He was born October 22, 1950 at East Lynn, a son of the late Jennings and Bethel Ross Stiltner. One sister, Goldie Ross Pierce also preceded him in death along with three brothers, Albert Lee Stiltner, Kenneth Stiltner, and Darrell Ross. Glen loved fishing, raising a garden, and most importantly, his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Michelle Stiltner; his children, Brittany Stiltner of Wayne, W.Va., Todd Goforth of Boone County, W.Va., Bethel Calloway, Glenna Root of Kendalville, Ind., Jessica Stiltner of Shipshewana, Ind., and Glen Allen Stiltner of Huntington, W.Va.; several grandchildren including two special grandsons who he raised, "Zia" Glen Stiltner and Landen Isaiah Stiltner. Also surviving are four sisters, Delila Davis, Georgia Maynard, Alice Adkins, all of East Lynn, and Joann Pierce of Milton, W.Va.; four brothers, Howard "Fuzzy" Stiltner of Seth, W.Va., Gerald Stiltner, David Stiltner, both of East Lynn, and Thurel Stiltner of Lavalette, W.Va.; his dear mother-in-law, Thelma Williams, whom always provided loving care; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors, whom he loved and cared for dearly. CAROL SUE FINLEY, 70, of Wayne, W.Va., was called home by her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at her residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Elder Roger Maynard and Brother Paul Michael Booth officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne. She was born on April 5, 1946, in Wayne, a daughter of the late Joseph Hale and Mildred Booth Jenkins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son David Finley, and step-father Jay Jenkins. Survivors include three sons, Troy Finley (Michelle Cotton) of Commerce, Mich., William Finley of Wayne, James Finley (Ronda) of Wayne; four sisters, Linda Barker of Elyria, Ohio, Barbara Jean Hedler (Bill) of Highland, Mich., Judy Kinter of Elyria, Ohio, and Debbie Maynard of Elyria, Ohio. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kyle Finley, Lauren Finley, Anthony Finley, Jeramey Finley and Brandon Finley. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home Chapel.

GARNETT HATTEN, 94, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cyrus Cemetery, Wayne County, W.Va., by Brother Terry Meredith. Burial will follow. She was born May 10, 1922, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Cullie and Josephine Carver Meredith. She was a caregiver. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nellie and Ed Gilkerson; and son and daughter-in-law, Cullie and Jonnie D. Hatten; sister, Mona Vipperman; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation or procession to the cemetery. R. GREGORY KEITH SHY, D.C., 57, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted noon Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Chapman's Mortuary, with Minister David Roach officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born September 19, 1959, in Huntington, a son of Toby Franklin and Janice Lewis Shy of Huntington. He was a member of the Ceredo Church of Christ, a graduate of Marshall University, and Parker Chiropractic School of Dallas, Texas. He worked as a chiropractor for American Chiropractic of Louisville, Ky. Survivors in addition to his parents include one sister, Michele Shy of Huntington; one brother, Dr. Jeffery Shy, DVM of Kenova; five aunts, Judy Bledsoe (Jim), Joan Tomblin, Pansy Whaley, Olive Smith (Ronnie), Willa Board (Vernon); two uncles, Delbert Shy and Vernon Dale Shy; special cousins Kristie and Mark Swann, Kim Koukos and Joan Macomb; several other cousins, and special friends, Tammy Wellman, and Donna Ozbun. DENNIE JEFFERSON ADAMS, 59, of East Lynn, WV, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at Teays Valley Hospital. DELTON COLLINS, 81, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Born May 23, 1935 at Huntington, Delton was known for his generous heart and was eager to help his friends, as well as strangers. His beloved wife, Donna Jean Collins preceded him in death along with one son, Delton Edward Collins; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bud Chapman; one granddaughter Tiffany Adkins; one grandson, Shawn Collins; one great grandson Delton "Cody" Collins; and a very special friend O’Dell Childers. He leaves behind, four children, Mary "Tiny" (Clyde) Pinson Mike (Betty) Collins, all of Wayne, Loretta "Nene" (Randy) Adkins of Huntington, W.Va., and Leroy (Sally) Collins, also of Wayne; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. SUSANNAH LAMBERT PREECE, of Kermit, W.Va., and Milton, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born November 3, 1941, in Welch, W.Va., to the late Charles "Boots" and Mattie Smith Lambert. In addition to her parents, Susannah was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Preece, and sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Jean and Howard Lambert. Susannah was a graduate of Kermit High School and Concord College where she was an alumna of the Alpha Alpha chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. With 39 years' teaching experience, she retired as a Kermit Blue Devil from Mingo County Schools. She served as Democratic councilwoman for the Town of Kermit, was a lifetime member of the Kermit United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Group. Susannah was also a member of the Kermit Area Woman's Club. As a devoted mother, she leaves behind her daughters, Tammy Hodge and her husband Bob of Kermit and Ann Sansom and her husband David of Milton. She was a steadfast and loving "GaGa" to her grandchildren, Kacyn Johann Horn, Madelyn "Maddie" Paige Sansom and McCain "Mack" Preece Lucas. Susannah is also survived by a sister, Lutherine Day of Gulfport, Fla. Her feline companion, Belle, is left behind as well. DARRELL RICHARD RAMEY, 68, of Lavalette, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. He was born March 1, 1949 in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late James and Ethel Ramey. One daughter, Bethany Ramey also preceded him in death, along with two brothers, Don Ramey and David Ramey. Darrell was Vietnam veteran, who served in the U.S. Army and was an auto mechanic. He leaves behind his loving wife Pamela Ramey; two daughters, Sam (Jerry) Robinson, and Lizzie Ramey of Lavalette; five sons, Michael Ramey, James Ramey both of Huntington, Ethan (Tiffany) Ramey of Barboursville, W.Va., Jacob Ramey, and JimBob Ramey, both of Lavalette; and several grandchildren. LOLA NAPIER, 91, Bidwell, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2016, at her daughter's home. She was born in Wayne, West Virginia, to the late Gobel and Sula Mae Lycans Fry. Lola married J. L. "Lark" Napier on March 21, 1941, in Radner, West Virginia, and he preceded her death on March 12, 2005. Lola began her teaching career at Sable Palms School at Palm Beach, Florida. She later moved to Gallia County, Ohio, where she served as principal of Clay Elementary and taught at Gallia Academy High School. She was member of Ohio Education Association, National Education Association, Ohio Eastern Star, Gallipolis Chapter; chairwoman of the 88 English Program and a member of Faith Baptist Church, Rodney, Ohio. Lola is survived by a son, Lark Napier II, Brooksville, Florida; daughter, Brittina Mae (Richard) Green, Bidwell, Ohio; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Corina Joseph, Virginia, and brother, Samuel Jesse (Donna) Fry, Wooster, Ohio. ARTHUR WELLINGTON SMITH, 94, of Lavalette, WV, beloved Dad, "Poppa" and great-grandfather, and a real friend to many, went to be with the Lord, our Savior, on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery at Wayne. Arthur was born June 18, 1922, in Wayne County, a son of the late Charles and Bertha McGinnis Smith. He was a retired butcher and car salesman for several businesses in Huntington, most notably Moses Pontiac. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, serving his country during World War II. He was a member of Mays Chapel United Methodist Church and a past volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Arthur was an amazing man with many talents; his best was making folks laugh. He never met a stranger and was always willing to talk a while with anyone. His loving wife of 60 years, Emily Frances Ray Smith, preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Harry Smith, Frank Smith, Sam Smith, Earl Smith and Kenneth Smith, as well as two sisters, Elizabeth Adkins and Faye Davis. He is survived by three daughters, Connie (Darol) Kendrick and Sallie (Dudley) Dickerson, all of Lavalette, W.Va., and Janie (Rev. David) Thompson of Beverly, W.Va. Surviving are five grandchildren, Aimee (Nate) Jackson, Jason (Misti) Queen and Jennifer Webb, all of Lavalette, W.Va., Dr. Aaron S. (Tracy) Kendrick of Louisa, Ky., and Allison (Josh) Hatfield of Catlettsburg, Ky. RUTH ELLEN GRIMM MEREDITH, 92, of Topeka, Kan., formerly of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. She was born November 30, 1924, in Kenova, W.Va., a daughter of the late Wilbur C. and Leah Jane Harris Grimm. Ruth worked for American Airlines and The First National Bank of Kenova. Ruth enjoyed music and was a loyal member of the C-K Alumni Band for many years. She was also deeply devoted to the First Presbyterian Church of Kenova where she had been a member for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Raymond Meredith; two daughters, Jody Ray Meredith and Margaret Ellen Meredith; and her sister, Betty Jane Grimm. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lee (Michael) Langfitt, one granddaughter and her husband, Meredith (T.J.) Snepp, and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Grace Snepp, all of Topeka. MILDRED L. FRY, 84, of Johnstown, Ohio, passed away at Heartland-Uptown Westerville on March 19, 2017. Born in Huntington, W.Va., to the late Chapman and Nelle Taylor Allen, she grew up in Wayne, W.Va., and attended Marshall University. She was married for 51 years to Howard C. Fry until his passing in 2005. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Mildred Taylor. She is survived by son, Robert "Bob" (Kathy) Fry, and daughter, Lora (Gary) Michael; grandchildren, Aaron (Jessica) Fry, Michael (Margaret) Fry, Jennifer (Josh) Ungemach and Emily (Jason) Hill; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Averie and Bradon Fry and Isaac, Olivia and Ransom Hill. GENEVA SCOTT EVANS, 79, of Kenova, W.Va., widow of Walter Harry Evans, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017, at her home. Geneva was born July 7, 1937, in Tazewell, Va., a daughter of the late Henry and Virgie White Scott. She was a 1954 graduate of Vinson High School. Geneva attended Marshall University and was an avid supporter of the Herd. She was a secretary and tax preparer for Boggs Insurance Agency. Geneva was a member of First Baptist Church of Kenova and a former member of Westmoreland Baptist Church where she taught preschoolers in Sunday school. She was also a member of the Paw Taw Square Dance Club and the Harvest Club. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded by one brother, William Thomas Scott. Geneva is survived by one son, Larry Evans of Kenova; one daughter, Jennifer A. Evans of Huntington; one grandson, Jarrod (Michelle) Evans of Kenova; one beloved sister, Libby Hall of Ashland; one sister-in-law, Maxine Blakely of Lavalette, W.Va.; one brother-in-law, Tom Evans of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several very special cousins. He was always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Also preceding him in death was a son, Rick Booton. DWIGHT VANCE, 67, of Prichard, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. He was born July 25, 1949 in Wayne County, West Virginia, a son of the late Lilia and Owen Vance, Jr. One sister, Elsie "Susie" Hager, also preceded him in death. Dwight proudly served in the United States Army and was a retired tool and die maker. He attended Beulah Freewill Baptist Church and loved farming. Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Vance; his daughter Theresa Lynn (Alberto) Sanchez; three grandchildren, Joshua, Maria, and Tatsiana; and one great grandson, Aurelio Sanchez, all of Richardson, Tex.; Also surviving are three brothers, Hi (Cora) Vance of West Hamlin, W.Va., Cecil (Dorothy) Vance of Berea, Ky., and Edgar Vance of Branchland, W.Va.; three sisters, Ruthie (Dan) Bustos of Hurricane, W.Va., Fannie (Richard) Casey of Milton, W.Va., and Georgie (Johnny) Harris of Branchland; special friends Estel Moore, Phillip Finley, and Gary Queen; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. CHARLES CLEVELAND WHISMAN JR. died March 22, 2017, of natural causes peacefully in his sleep. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles Cleveland Whisman Sr., sisters, Judith Prino and Teresa Yates. Survivors include his mother, Mary Ruth Whisman; sister, Charlene (Carroll) Leek; uncle, Ewell Whisman; daughters, Amy Lawson of North Carolina and Ashley Whisman of Ceredo, W.Va. He had eight grandchildren, Jenna, David, Brandi, Dillon, James, Ava, Landon and Lydia. He is also survived by nephew/adopted son, Steven (Elizabeth) Adkins of Alaska; grandchildren, Brandon and Camden; nephews, Wesley Leek, Greg Yates Jr. and Wayne Meadows; nieces, Jody Ramsey, Hollye Lowe and Sarah Parker, all of Huntington; 15 great-nieces and -nephews; and a host of good friends. Chuck was a graduate of Vinson High School class of 1980, and lived in this area all his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a great carpenter by trade and could MacGyver anything. He was a gifted musician and a great cook who fed all of his friends. Children and animals loved him, especially his furbaby, Gracie. Those left to grieve her absence include her loving husband of 55 years, John R. EMMITT LARRY ROSS, 64, of Genoa, WV, found his resting place with the Lord on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. Larry was born on March 14, 1953 in East Lynn, WV, a son of the late Emmitt Ross and Ona Adams Ross. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a very special father-in-law, Roy Ramey. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Deidre "DeDe" Ramey Ross, a loving son, Josh Ross and two wonderful daughters; Stacey Ross and Kelly Cooper (Steve), two grandchildren, Kurt Chastian and Sara Burton. He is also survived by a brother, Jeff Ross (Darlene), three sisters; Kathie Ferguson (Ron), Patty Ross and Cora Mead (Dale), very special mother-in-law, Annie Ramey and several nieces and nephews. Larry worked in the Auto Body Industry for many years and owned and operated an Insurance Adjusting Agency (PDA) as well. He attended Harmony Freewill Baptist Church. She was born on May 16, 1932, a daughter of the late Ollie Wilson and Oma Merritt Sanders. Nella was a homemaker and a member of Beech Fork Chapel Church for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Clarence Mills; five brothers, James Hubert Sanders and wife Jean, Millard Milton Sanders and wife Audline, Ollie Wilson Sanders II, Henry Howard Sanders and Clarence Wilson Sanders; four sisters, Macie Mae Carter and husband Loranzie Dowell, Opal Marie Martin and husband William Eugene, Eunice Lee Adkins and husband Willard and Kathleen Yvonne Wilson and husband Charlie. Survivors include her two sons, Clarence Douglas Mills and wife Ginetta and Jerry Allen Mills, all of East Lynn, W.Va.; daughter, Dora Darlene Wilson and husband Billy of Genoa, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Billy L. Born April 8, 1962, a daughter of the late William "Bill" Wesley and Inez Wilson Carroll, Ginetta was an experienced homemaker, a loving mother, a beautiful wife, an adored grandmother, special sister and humorous aunt to her family. Also preceding her in death were sisters, Rosetta Carroll and Patricia Lynn Barbe; brother, Wesley Lee Carroll; nieces, Jennifer Gene Adkins and Elisha Renee Wilson; and parents-in-law, Clarence and Nella Fae Mills. BARBARA ANN THOMPSON, age 72, of Milton, Fla., passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017. She was born in in Prichard, West Virginia, on May 8, 1944, to the late Hubert Hatten and Alberta Blake Hatten. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Peggy (Bud) Stapleton. Survivors include her beloved husband of 55-½ years, Fred A Thompson; her daughter, Melody Michener (Eric): two grandsons, Chance Michener and Ezra Michener; her sister, Betty Hazlett; nieces, nephews and cousins and her animal babies, Katie (dog), and Coffee and Cocoa (her cats). Fred's job in construction brought him and his family to Milton, Fla., in 1979, where they presently live. Barbara worked for 13 years as a Santa Rosa County Bus Driver. She loved being outdoors and working in her yard, planting flowers, landscaping and gardening. She would stay outside until dark. She loved her grandsons very much and loved spending time with them. She traveled with Fred state to state during the summers when Melody was out of school. Fred and Barbara met in high school and were married in 1961. Barbara was a special wife, mother and Grammer. There was a Celebration of Life Monday, April 3, 2017, at National Cremation & Burial Society with Pastor Mike Wiggins officiating. Interment followed in Memory Park cemetery. RONALD RANSOM WILEY, 74, of Ranger, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington. He was born December 26, 1942, to the late Ransom Wiley and Mayme Taylor Wiley. He retired in 2004 after many years of dedicated service to the WV Division of Highways. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish, hunt and ride his motorcycle. Many knew him as "Uncle Ron" and "the handiest of handymen." He is survived by the love of his life of 52 years, his wife, Florene Cook Wiley; he is also survived by his precious mother, Mayme Wiley; two children, Ronald Gene Wiley (Brandi) of Ranger, W.Va., and Angela Wiley Hay (Rick) of Ranger, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Joshua Tomblin, Courtney Wiley and Dustin Wiley; two brothers, Boyd Gene Wiley (Lorene), Roy Glen Wiley (Nancy); three sisters, Carrie Wiley Pervan, Rosa Wiley Crawford (Larry), Carol Wiley Smith (Eddie); and a host of nieces and nephews he loved as his own. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Michael Wiley, a niece, Edie Faye Dalton (Wiley), a brother-in-law, Eli Pervan, and his father, Ransom Wiley. VIRGIL RAY PACK, 79, of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 31, 2017. He was born December 16, 1937 at Wayne, a son of the late Drewie and Myrtle Pack. His brother Jennings Pack also preceded him in death, along with two sisters, Lois Russell and Phyllis Pack. Virgil was a U.S. Navy Veteran who retired from Astro, but best known in the community for his time employed at the Wayne Wal-Mart. He was witty, enjoyed joking, and dearly loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife Carol Sue Casteel Pack; three sons, Stephen (Carol) Lycans, Kevin (Christine) Lycans, and Kenneth "Marc" (Dana) Pack; one daughter, Tina Fliger, all of Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters Wanda Kuhel of Ohio, Iris Bivins of Georgia, Suzie Lehman of Oh., and Jeffery Bailey of East Lynn, W.Va.; three brothers, Roger Pack of Branchland, W.Va., Drewie Pack "Jr." of Oh., and Hubert Pack of Branchland; special four-legged friend Mickey; and a host of friends and family too numerous to mention. DAVID BRUCE ADKINS, 48, of Chesapeake, Ohio, formerly of Wayne, WV, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 at his residence. He was born on December 3, 1968 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Delmer and Mae Lane Adkins. David worked for his own repossession company, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. David also was passionate about rescuing animals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmer and Mae Lane Adkins and one brother, Steven Wayne Adkins.
