PATRICIA ANN MUNDAY, 85, of Wayne, died Dec. 1, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home.

JEREMIAH WINCHESTER GORUM, 31, of Fort Gay, WV, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Pastor Mark Booth officiating. Burial will follow at Greasy Ridge Cemetery, Dunlow. He was born on December 5, 1985 at Stockbridge, GA, a son of Thomas Dean and Shreda Kay Maynard Gorum of Fort Gay, WV. Jeremiah was a Telecommunications Switch Technician for AT&T. His uncle, David Maynard preceded him in death. Additional survivors include a daughter, Aaralyn Chantel Grace Shock; a son, Dominic Alexander Ruble; a sister, Delcie Rhyanna Gorum of Charleston, WV; a brother, Gene Wilson Gorum of Fort Gay, WV; his grandparents, Henry F. JAMES DAVID CHADWICK, 83 of Wayne, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, by Elders John Osburn and Scott Coffey. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Wayne, W.Va. He was born June 18, 1934, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Curtis L. and Ruth P. Lester Chadwick. Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict; and was a member of the Living Stone Baptist Church. He worked as a butcher at Chadwick's Slaughter House in Wayne, and later retired from Steel of West Virginia. His son, William Curtis Chadwick, also preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy Quesenberry Chadwick; a daughter, Sherry Tucker and husband Bill of Scott Depot, W.Va.; a sister, Helen Chaney and husband Willis of Lavalette, W.Va.; two brothers, Pete Chadwick and wife Janet of Wayne, W.Va., Richard Chadwick and wife Sandy of Lavalette, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Andrea Ellison and husband Matthew of Sissonville, W.Va., and Chad Tucker of Wayne, W.Va.; seven great-grandchildren, Hannah, Haley, Jordan, Elijah, Shiloh, Eden and Josiah James Ellison; three very special fishing buddies, Bill Morrison, David Thomas and Ronnie Gilliam. NORA EMMA "TUNIE" ROBERTSON, 84, of Piketon, Ohio, formerly of Kiahsville, W.Va., passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Pleasant Hill Care Center in Piketon, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Freedom Freewill Baptist Church, Kiahsville, W.Va., where she was a member. Burial will follow at Pres Friley Cemetery, Kiahsville, W.Va. She was born July 2, 1933, in Cove Gap, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lucian and Madgie Eilliott Watts. "Tunie" worked as nurse's aide at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ohio and Lincoln Primary Care in West Hamlin, W.Va., and also previously worked at the Kiahsville Post Office. She sang gospel music with "The Freedom Singers" and enjoyed working outside in her garden, mowing grass and canning vegetables. Her husband, whom she loved dearly, Howard Robertson, also preceded her in death, along with a sister, Lucille Sanders; brothers, Jesse, Minuard and Lucian Watts Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Dora Marie Robertson; son-in-law, Jesse Roger Stacy; brothers-in-law, Larry Larson and Charles Sanders; and a granddaughter-in-law, Amanda Robertson. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Ann Fuller and husband Charles of Rio Grande, Ohio; three sons, James Howard Robertson of Kiahsville, W.Va., Robert Dale Robertson of Barboursville, W.Va., Curtis Ray Robertson and wife Lisa of Kiahsville, W.Va.; five sisters, Loretta Howell and husband David of Lexington, N.C., Jewell Larson of Cleveland, Ohio, Judy McComas and husband Hurley of Cleveland, Ohio, Bonnie Adkins and husband Dennis of Grove City, Ohio, Bertha Vance and husband Dr. Charles Vance of Hurricane, W.Va.; a brother, Jimmy Watts and wife Dreama of West Hamlin, W.Va.; sisters-in-law, Greta Watts of Bedford, Ohio, Shirley Watts of Kiahsville, W.Va., and Netra Watts of West Hamlin, W.Va.; daughter-in-law, Evangeline McCoy; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. CLAUDIE E. BLOWER, 86, of Lavalette, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Brother Virgil Pack. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Memorial Gardens, Huntington. She was born March 10, 1931, in Wayne, a daughter of the late Claude Petty and Pansy Pack Petty Fox. Eloise formerly worked in the credit department for Roger's Jewelry and was a member of Kellogg Independent Holiness Church of God. Her husband, Eustace Carson Blower, also preceded her in death, along with three sisters, Yvonne Wrikeman, Helen Baum, Edna Forgrave; two brothers, Glen and Harold Petty. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Blower Pack and husband, William "Punk" of Lavalette; her son, Eustace Carson Blower II and wife, Linda of Wayne; a sister, Beulah Gibson of Independence, Ky.; five grandchildren, Bryan Carson Blower, Shannon Pack, Telissa Stroud, Kasey Blankenship and Shelby Crossen (Gary); one great-grandchild, Kayson Crossen; and a host of nieces and nephews. BILLY EARL FERGUSON, 84, of Kenova, W.Va., went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 3, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 3, 1933, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Gallie and Estie Dorsey Ferguson. He was a retired equipment operator, having worked for Standard Slag Company. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by six brothers, Stanford, Joe, Clarence, Russell, Roy and John Ferguson, and their spouses and one sister, Viola Watts. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Holland Ferguson; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Ray (Melody) Ferguson; two daughters and one son-in-law, Pam Frisby and Sheree (Terry) Armstrong; six grandchildren, Jamie Ferguson, Lindsay (John) Tatum, Phoenix (Dannie) Dyer, Crystal (Mark) Jackson, TJ (Tara) Armstrong and Christopher (Ashley) Frisby; four special great-granddaughters (his little dandies), Raelyn Tatum, Jenna and Julia Ferguson and Addison Armstrong; one sister, Jeanie Queen; two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Billie (Tom) Stewart and Carol (Thurman) Slone; and one brother-in-law and his wife, Gary (Gina) Holland. CAROLE DIANE LITTLE, 50, of Huntington, W.Va., was greeted by the arms of the Lord Sunday, December 3, 2017, at her residence. Graveside funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2017, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Morrello officiating. Carole was born November 6, 1967, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of Evelyn Chapman of Ceredo, W.Va., and the late Robert Chapman. She had one loving sister, Susan Belcher of Milton, W.Va., as well as a very special dog, Roxy Diana. She is now reunited with her love, Elmer Jackson Ray. She was a wonderful mother to three children, Robert Little Jr., Andrea Little (Corey Runyon Sr.) and Cheyenne Foster. She was also a grandmother of four grandchildren, Corey Jr., Brooklyn, Mackenzie and Camron Runyon. She was loved very much by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Friday at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington. Funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 1:45 p.m. going to the cemetery. HARRISON FRANKLIN McCOY JR., 53, of Kenova, WV, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at his residence. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 8, 2017 at Rollins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. He was born November 9, 1964 in Pike Co. Ky. a son of the late Harrison and Ruth Kendrick McCoy. He was a member of the Feds Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Timothy McCoy and one sister Dorothy Howell. He is survived by five siblings Patty Hutchinson, Harold McCoy, Linda Bryant, Maggie Bowen and Christy McCoy; special buddy Brad; twelve nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. CARLOS RAY FERGUSON, 37, of Lavalette, W.Va., was taken from this world Sunday, December 3, 2017. He was born June 24, 1980 at Huntington, W.Va. and graduated from Buffalo High School. His father Woodrow Ferguson preceded him in death along with one brother, Arthur Ferguson. He leaves behind his mother Mary Lou Ferguson of Huntington; his children, Hannah Ferguson and Robert Ferguson, both of Lavalette; his sisters, Sharon (Alan) Carthorne of Ladysmith, Va., Debbie (David) Mollohan of Huntington, and Bonnie (Greg) Gresser of Doylestown, Ohio; his brothers Manuel Ferguson of Lavalette, Greg (Janet) Ferguson of Huntington, Tim Ferguson, also of Huntington, Les (Denise) Ferguson, and Earl (Joyce) Ferguson, all of Lavalette; and nieces, nephews, family and friends too numerous to mention. LEONARD MARCUM, Jr., 80, of Louisa died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Three Rivers Medical Center. Mr. Marcum was born August 21, 1937 in Webb, WV to the late Leonard and Rose Sparks Marcum. ADONNA COBURN, 78, of Kiahsville, W.Va., passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Elder Dolphus Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. She was born on September 25, 1939, at Dunlow, W.Va., a daughter of the late William Keither Caldwell and Rutha Mae Webb Caldwell. She was a homemaker and had a love for bluegrass music. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Brady Coburn; her brothers, Ervin Caldwell, John Denvil, Dewey Keither and William George; sisters, Valerie Frances Nelson, Dora Nelson, Barbara Caldwell, Sarah Ann Caldwell and Thelma Marie Maynard; and a grandson, Timothy Brian Adkins. Survivors include three daughters, Beverly June Neace and companion Kenneth Dover of Hickory Grove, South Carolina, Vanessa Jean Adkins and husband Lloyd and Pansie Carroll Caldwell and husband Jackie, all of Ranger, W.Va.; three sons, James Douglas Coburn and wife Kelly of Midkiff, W.Va., Brady Jeffrey Coburn and wife Shelia of Kiahsville, W.Va., and Jerry William Coburn and wife Jennifer of Genoa, W.Va.; one sister, Delphia Mae of Pennsylvania; and one brother, Samuel Kelly Caldwell and wife Shirley of Red House, W.Va. Adonna is also survived by her grandchildren, David Allen Adkins and wife Christina, April Love and husband Mickey Jr., Brittany Danielle and Bethany Hope Caldwell, Ryan Douglas Coburn, and Kristen Renee Goodpaster and husband Cody Michael; great-grandchildren, Madison Grace Adkins, Bryan David Adkins, Phillip Chaz Adkins, Dylan Benson, Brayden Love, Nydia Love, Amber Gail Vance and Caden Gage Vance; and a host of nieces and nephews. WILLIAM LOREN ROBERTS, 88, of Prichard, W.Va., passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on June 5, 1929, the son of the late Calvin and Susie F. Parks Roberts. Bill was a retired shift foreman with Kentucky Electric Steel Company. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was very proud to have served as a Presidential Honor Guard at the Inauguration of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bill was preceded in death by one son, Keith Ray Roberts, and one son at birth, William Bryan Roberts, and several brothers and sisters. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Ava Irene Martin Roberts; one son, Steve Roberts of Prichard, W.Va.; two grandsons, Sean Roberts and Matthew Roberts, both of Prichard, W.Va.; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Beth Roberts, Matthew Shane Roberts and William Lukas Roberts; and a host of other family and friends. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2017, at Cyrus Cemetery with Chaplain Bill Spencer and the American Legion Post 93 Kenova, W.Va., which will conduct military graveside rites. HELEN MARIE BILLUPS WEBB, 88, of Ceredo, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, at her residence. Helen is the widow of the late David Webb and the daughter of the late Paul and Marie Billups. Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde Billups and Robert Billups. She is survived by her brother, James Billups (Pat), and her sister, Judy Billups Akers (Gary); sisters-in-law, Hazel Billups, Beverly Billups and Ruth Miller; and several nieces and nephews. Helen was a girl of 17 when her mother, Marie Workman Billups, died. As the oldest of five children from ages one to 17 years old, she stepped in, and with her father, Paul, became the caregiver for her four younger siblings. When they became adults, her three brothers and one sister realized the sacrifices she had made on their behalf. When their father remarried six years later, Helen was free to move on with her life. Once Helen married, she and David loved to travel. They traveled all around the United States and to faraway places like New Zealand, Russia, China and many other countries. Helen was active in the Huntington chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a strong interest in genealogy and helped many people in the search for their heritage. Helen was extremely blessed to have her nephew and his wife, James Anthony "Tony" Billups and Melissa Billups, in her life. For the last several years, Tony and Melissa have selflessly provided companionship and care to Helen, ensuring she was able to stay in her home through the end of her life. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Ceredo, by Pastor Rodney Hale. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation or procession to the cemetery. ALICE E. GROOMS, 96, of Huntington, W.Va., formerly of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Hillcrest Cemetery, with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. She was born December 1, 1921, in Kenova, W.Va., a daughter of the late William Byron and Bertha Skeens Morrison. She was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church and retired Secretary to the Postmaster with the Huntington Postal Service. Alice was a former volunteer with Hospice and the VA Medical Center. She was also a member of the Cabell-Wayne Association of the Blind. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her beloved husband, Stanley V. Grooms; one brother, Clarence Morrison; one sister, Ruth Clifford; infant son, John Allen Crouch; and two stepchildren, Stanley R. Grooms and Gerri Grooms. She is survived by one daughter, Carol Sue Crouch Mills (William Curry) of Huntington, W.Va.; one stepson, James "Chip" Grooms (Julie) of Glen, New Hampshire; one sister, Helen Kingston of Ashtabula, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Ramona Stoner Morrison of Alexandria, Virginia; four step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; three nieces and five nephews. LEWIS PERRY CAZAD, 78, of Wayne, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born June 8, 1939 in Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late William and Ellen Hughes Cazad. One brother, Paul Cazad, also preceded him in death along with two sisters, Virginia Meades and Alma Bennett. Survivors include his brothers, William Cazad, Jr., Ivan Cazad, and Timothy Cazad, all of Huntington; one sister, Margie Burton, also of Huntington; and nieces, nephews, friends, and family too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Barker Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Friday.

CHESTER JAMES NAPIER, 83, of Wayne, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Elder Tony Clay and Elder Roger Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. He was born on February 20, 1934, in Dunlow, West Virginia, a son of the late Birdie Napier and Maltie Maynard Napier. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jan Lee Napier; infant brother, Eldon Napier and brother, Lester Napier; and one sister, Dorothy White. Survivors include his daughter, Debra Lester (Millard) of Lavalette, WV; three sons, Steve Napier (Christa) of San Antonio, Texas, Jeff Napier (Arlene) of Milton, WV, and Scott Napier of Wayne, WV; two sisters, Billy Jo Damron of Wayne, WV and Birdie Mae Thomas of Elyria, Ohio; two brothers, Elmer Napier (Nedra) of South Point, Ohio and Johnny Napier (Crystal) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Jeremy Lester and companion Callie Castleberry of Columbus, Ohio, Kasey Lester and companion Jeremy Maynard of Lavalette, WV, and Corbey Llanes and husband Jon of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by three great- grandchildren; Abby Varney, Sophia Varney, and Jack Llanes. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

OWEN FRANKLIN PASLEY, 62, of South Point, Ohio, of Wayne, WV, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 4:45 a.m. at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. He was born June 15, 1955 at Huntington, West Virginia, a son of the late Eugene M. and Gladys Harris Pasley. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Anita Trautwein and brother-in-law, Jerry Trautwein, as well as a special friend, Ruth Kitchen, whose friendship he treasured. Survivors include his soulmate, Paula Fuller and sons James Robert Pasley (Cheryl Hodock) of Wayne, WV, Owen Franklin Pasley, II (Kem) of Scott Depot, WV, Millard Bradshaw (Angel) of Prichard, WV, Tracy Bradshaw of Wayne, WV, Daniel Bradshaw (Jennifer) of Prichard, WV, and Shane Fuller (Whitney) of Chesapeake, OH; his daughter, Bethany Henry (Nick) of Huntington, WV; his brother, Robert E. Pasley (Catherine) of Wayne, WV; his grandchildren Caylin (Anthony), Logan, Shantae, Jeremy, Landon, Lauryn, Drake and Morgan, all knew him as " Pawpaw" , and Stella, Ruby, Maggie and Nicholas who knew him as " Pap" ; a great-granddaughter, Aubree; and several nieces and nephews. Owen was warm, graceful and full of life. Even through his illness and trials he loved with his whole heart and impacted all who knew him, whether with a funny " Owenism" , kind gesture, or loving support and respect. GLEN EDWARD MORRISON "Eddie," 57, of East Lynn, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Danny Stapleton. Burial will be 11 a.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Jones Cemetery. He was born November 4, 1960, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of Barbara Nieliwocki of Bradenton, Fla., and the late Charles Glen Morrison. WALTER ROY FINLEY JR. "LITTLE BO", 42, of Huntington, was taken from this world suddenly on Friday, December 8, 2017. He was born November 13, 1975, in Chicago, Ill. His mother, Leola Runyon Finley, and his companion and mother of his children, Katie Plymale, preceded him in death. CLYDE ADKINS, 91, of Lavalette, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at St. Mary' s Medical Center. He was born December 26, 1925 at Stiltner, W.Va., a son of the late Noah and Martha Adkins. His wife of 63 years, Spicie Adkins also preceded him in death, along with eleven siblings, Ceburn Workman, Zona Workman, Ray Adkins, Clifford Adkins, Edward " Bug" Adkins, Harmon Adkins, Glen Roy Adkins, Hannah Adkins Clark, Hatten Adkins; N.P. Adkins, and Janie Watts. Clyde served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a retired fork lift operator. He leaves behind three children, Brenda (Danny) Adkins East Lynn, W.Va., Mike Adkins, and Rick Adkins, both of Lavalette; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Melanie (Donny), Shane, Amber, Ricky, Corey, Ericka, Sara, and Alan; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Cooper of Lorain, Ohio; and a host of friends and family. JOHN C. PARSLEY JR., of Kenova, W.Va., was born Nov. 29, 1970. John passed away on Dec. 9, 2017, at the age of 47, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Parsley Sr.; grandparents Donald and Grace Smith of Kenova and uncle Don Smith Jr., of Worthington, Kentucky. He is survived by his mother, Sandra L. Parsley; mother and father Carmen Roma Wilson and Dan Wilson; daughters Samantha Rachelle Parsley and Rachael Dawn Fillinger (Aaron Fillinger); sister Laura Jane Caruthers; nephew Samuel Caruthers; brother Jason Roma (Alice Roma), nephews and niece Noah Roma, Karolina Roma, Ethan Roma and Parker Roma and a special aunt, Roberta Smith. He was a 1989 graduate of Buffalo High School where he played football and basketball. He worked as a lineman electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 317 in Huntington, West Virginia. He was an avid outdoorsman, a wonderful son and father, devoted brother, coach, mentor (Levi Marcum of Spring Valley), and friend (Brad Gissel, Mr. and Mrs. John Marcum and many more). John left this world a fighter. He was truly loved by his family and many friends, who were also his family. He will be deeply missed. Bud was born on October 25, 1927, in Kenova, W.Va., to the late Jesse and Arizona Hutchinson Blankenship. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy. He married Lois Ilene Conley on September 18, 1948, in Russell, Ky. He owned and operated Blankenship Plumbing and Heating in Kenova, W.Va., for 42 years. They have lived in Wichita Falls, TX, for the last 22 years. He was a Mason for over 50 years and served as a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Kenova while living in Kenova, W.Va. He also served as Vice President of the Kenova Lions Club. He was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, Bethania Hospital and Habitat for Humanity, both in Wichita Falls, TX. He was a member of Floral Heights United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by a sister, Marge Johnson. Survivors include his beloved wife, Lois Ilene Blankenship of Wichita Falls, TX; a son, Jesse L. Jay was a veteran, having served in the Marines during the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 93, whose Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites. He was also a member of the Kenova Masonic Lodge AF&AM #110. GLADYS ROBINETT WORKMAN, 95, of Wayne, wife of the late Leslie H. Workman, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017, at The Woodlands in Huntington. She and her husband were blessed with 50 years together. She was born January 6, 1922 at Fort Gay, W.Va., the daughter of the late Mike J. and Eliza Robinett, and was the daughter-in-law of the late Edgar and Nettie Workman. Gladys was a 1939 graduate of Wayne High School. She attended Berea College for three years and was an honor graduate of West Virginia University, and received a master's degree in English from Northwestern University. She was a teacher by profession, having taught English and Latin at the old Wayne High School on the hill, and also at Waverly High School, Waverly, Ohio. She also worked with grammatics and journalism at the schools. Gladys retired as librarian at Wayne High School after 40 years in education. Locally she was a charter member of Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Cappa Sorority, International Honor Society for women educators, and was a member of the American Book Club. She was a loyal member of the Wayne Baptist Church through the years and was active in teaching, the choir, and the American Baptist Women. She enjoyed Sunday lunches with her friends who called themselves "The Lunch Bunch." Gladys identified with the ideas expressed in the poems written by Alfred, Lord Tennyson: "I am a part of all I have met," and "More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of." Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Leonard Robinett of Bluefield, W.Va., and Max J. Robinett of Rochester, Minn.; and brothers-in-law, Harold Workman of Bristol, Pa., and Rudolph Jackson of Fairfield, Ohio. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Workman Carico and her husband Gregory Alan Carico, both in the medical field; her sister, Helen Robinett Jackson, formerly of Fairfield, Ohio, now living at the Woodlands Retirement Community in Huntington; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Robinett of Bluefield, W.Va., Lorene Hardwick Robinett of Rochester, Minn., and Betty Jean Workman Thompson of Lexington, Ky.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. "AL" ALBERT WILLIAM GHIZ, 77, of Huntington, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside rites will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Spring Hill Cemetery by Pastor Trent Eastman. Al was born in Barboursville on February 19, 1940, the son of the late Joe W. Ghiz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Rose Ghiz Hensley; a brother, Joe M. Ghiz; and a grandmother, "a saint" who raised him. He was an employee of Evans/Pennyfair Supermarkets for 15 years from carryout to store manager and for 31 years as a retail salesman for food brokers, retiring from Greg Bias Retail Associates. Al called on supermarkets in parts of West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky. Over the years, the supermarket employees became more than just customers, "They were his special friends." Al is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauletta Adams Ghiz, whom he met on a blind date; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Lisa Ghiz; three granddaughters, Tara Hensley, Katie Ghiz and Grace Ghiz; two great-granddaughters, Jayden Jennings and Nivah Green; a sister-in-law, Jo Ghiz; a brother and sister-in-law, John "Danny "and Ruth Swanson; and a special aunt, Jane Baldwin. Additional survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, special friends and all of his neighbors. They were more than neighbors; they were an extension of his family. HIRAM BLANKENSHIP JR., "Junior" 76, of Kenova, passed away after a long illness on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at home. He was a loving brother, husband, father, papaw and pappy to so many that loved him. He is also survived by two brothers, Willi and Ellis; four sisters, Lillian, Irene, Sue and Sylvia. He was a long-time employee of Hamer Lumber Company. JAMES THOMAS "JIM" ADKINS, 85, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Jim was born July 2, 1932, in Centerville, W.Va., a son of the late Boyd Franklin and Euna Gilkerson Adkins. He graduated from Buffalo High School and entered the US Air Force, where he served during the Korean War. Jim was a member of American Legion Post #93 Kenova, whose Honor Guard will perform military graveside rites. He graduated from Marshall University with his BA in Accounting and later earned his Master's degree. Jim went to work as an accountant for Armco Steel and retired after many years of service. He was active with the C-K Buddy Basketball League where he was a longtime coach for the Big Reds. Jim was affectionately known as Poppy to David, JT and many of their friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James T. "JT" Adkins II; four sisters, Eloise Staley, Helen Ronk, Billie Bellomy and Thomasine Johnson; and one brother, Jack Adkins. He is survived by three daughters, Sara Ann (Hugh) Murray of Milton, W.Va., Sharon Adkins Wilburn of Huntington and Brenda (Terry) Harrison of Kenova; one son, David Ryan Franklin (Rayna) Adkins of Cape Coral, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. John Bill was a retired truck driver and a lifelong farmer. He was an active member of many organizations, including Guyan Conservation District; and W.Va. RC & D; Wayne County Solid Waste Authority, W.Va. Farm Bureau Board of Directors and 17 year President; Past Master of Vinson Lodge #66 AF&AM at Ft. Gay; 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason; Order of Eastern Star of W.Va., Wayne Chapter 156; and most importantly the Genoa Church of Christ. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Irna Leah Perry; daughter-in-law Mary Arthur Perry of Huntington, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Jordan R. Perry of Flatwoods, Ky., Christopher (Kayla) Edwards of Greenup, Ky., and their mother Barbie K. Blevins also of Flatwoods, and Jacob (Danielle) Perry of Grayson, Ky.; and great grandchildren Haley and Liam Perry, and Brooklynn and Bohdan Edwards. Thelma retired from St. Mary's Hospital as a pediatric nurse and after retirement worked for Dr. Farooq Siddiqi. She is preceded in death by her by her six brothers, Edward Sperry Jr., Jay Sperry, Richard Sperry, Phillip G. Sperry, James E. Sperry and Baby Boy Sperry; her sisters, Charlotte Sperry and Veronica Chaney. Thelma is survived by her daughter, Jean Nixon (Tom); sisters, Genevieve Thompson, Joyce Copley and Rita Myers; one brother, Doug Sperry; grandchildren, Sandra McKeand (Keith), Thomas A. YOUNGY BENNETT "YB" DAMRON, 92, of Kenova, WV passed away on December 29, 2017 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, KY. He was born on August 2, 1925 in Wayne County, WV; a son of the late William Dave Damron and Georgia Martin. Funeral services for YB will be conducted on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Kenova Church of Christ at 1 P.M. with Pastor Joe Pratt officiating with family welcoming friends one hour prior to services. As per his wishes, he will be cremated and his cremains will be buried at a later date at Maple Hill Cemetery. YB was a Journeyman for Carpenter' s Local 302. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII in the 101st Airborne Division. He fought in the "Battle of the Bulge" and he was General Dwight D. Eisenhower's Jeep Driver. He was a member of the Kenova Church of Christ and Masonic Lodge #715 F&AM in Rush, KY. YB was preceded in death by his wife, Emma " Frankie" (Moore) Damron; his daughter, Joan B. Miracle; his grandchildren, Shawna McCoy and John Zonner; one brother and all his sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia Smallenbarger (Douglas); his son-in-law, Raymond Miracle; his brother, Earl Robert Damron (Betty); grandchildren, Sheila Miracle, Matthew Miracle and Amy Miracle, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. VICKIE L. CARVER, 66, of Kenova, W.Va. passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born July 2, 1951 in Kenova a daughter of the late Carl Franklin and Stella Beulah Smith Carver. She is survived by eight siblings Sharon Carver Hensley, Carl Marcum, David Lee Carver, Ruth Ann Marcum, Louise Marcum, Betty Jean Daniels, Lillian Wilson and Carol Sue Stotler and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. JOHN KEITH JUSTICE, 83, of Culloden, WV passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. He was born on June 29, 1934 at East Lynn, WV, a son of the late Brady and Elizabeth Justice. Keith retired as a Truck Driver from Columbia Gas with 33 years of service. He was a United States Army Veteran. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Louise Justice; two sons, Terry Kitchen of South Carolina, and Bryan K. Justice of Huntington; two daughters, Lisa Smith of Milton, WV, and Michelle Scarbro of Kanawha City, WV; one brother, Brady E. Justice of Florence, Oregon; and one sister, Sally Napier (Herb) of Lavalette, WV. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 6103, Louisa, Kentucky.

ELSIE WILLIAMSON MAYNARD DESKINS, 91, of Huntington, W.Va. passed to her eternal home Saturday, December 30, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. To know Elsie was to know that family was the most important thing to her, so her family was with her as she left this world to be welcomed into God= s loving embrace. There are not enough words to express how much mom meant to our family and how loved she was by all of us. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Rollins Funeral Home, with Brother Charlie O. Adkins and David Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Elsie was born April 12, 1926 in Wilsondale, W.Va. a daughter of the late Lark and Callie Williamson. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Stephen Maynard and second husband Ed Deskins; two grandsons Jeffrey Maynard and Jason Andrew Maynard and four brothers Raymond, Ira and Amos Williamson and Eugene Dyer and three sisters Shirley Adkins, Mary Smith and Carrie Smith Guffey. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Delbert Maynard (Patricia) of Kenova, W.Va. and Thomas Maynard (Debbie) of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law Gloria Gay Riggs (Ronnie) of Kenova, W.Va. and Diania Sue Boothe (Garry) of Wayne, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and their spouses Tonya Taylor (Stewart), Rhonda Mclain (Sean), Jamie Riggs (Barclay), Matthew Maynard (Andrea), Barry Boothe (Jill), Brian Boothe (Mary), Michelle Jackson (J.R.) and Steve Maynard (Jamie); and sixteen great grandchildren Brandon, Cameron, Kaitlin, Reilly, Aidan, Holley, Harrison, Damon, Mia, Gavin, Carson, Morgan, Hunter, Cole, Clay and Logan The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to caregivers Paulette, Brayden and June. She was born, May 28, 1926 in Boone County, WV, a daughter of the late Sanford Miller and Alice Robinson Mays. Helen was a retired cook from the Huntington State Hospital. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Maynard, her second husband, Hershel Gillispie and her daughter, Connie Toler. Survivors include two sons, Elmer Bernard Maynard (Willdean) of Huntington, WV, Bobby Joe Maynard (Terry Sanders) of Scottown, OH; two sisters, Doris Marcum of Scottown, OH, Littie Moniz of Springfield, MA; a brother, Freelin Robinson of Northville, MI; a grandson, Bernard Matthew Maynard of Charleston, WV; and a great granddaughter, Madelin Maynard of Charleston, WV. EDGAR LEE ADKINS JR., 53, of Wayne, WV passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne. Burial will follow at Cedar Cliff Cemetery, East Lynn, WV. He was born December 1, 1964, a son of the late Edgar Lee Adkins. Edgar worked as a security guard for the Monterrey Coal Company. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mollie and Cephas Adkins. He is survived by two step-daughters, Lola Ramey (Scotty Swimm), and Serena Walker (Greg) all of East Lynn; two step-sons, Kenny (Brenda) Merritt of East Lynn, and Bill Marcum (Tiffany); one sister, Amy Isaacs of Wayne; three nieces, Amanda Davis (Charlie Neace) of Ranger, WV, Shawna Adkins (Jessie), Sarah Sexton (Glendell) all of Wayne; two very special nieces, Rebecca Adkins and Aubrey Sexton both of Wayne; two very special nephews, Hadden Adkins and Roger Adkins both of Wayne; a special friend, Randal Nicely; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
